addition to its summer line-up of
performances—a captivating fusion of
theatre and music. Introducing The
Macallan Reflections on The River Spey,
an immersive experience that transports
audiences through the rich tapestry of
life at The Macallan Estate across the
centuries. This enthralling production
intertwines captivating narratives from
The Macallan's pioneering figures with
the enchanting melodies of acclaimed
classical guitarist, Matthew McAllister,
a distinguished musician hailing from
Glasgow and currently serving as
Classical Guitar Lecturer at the Royal
Conservatoire of Scotland.
For over two decades, Matthew has
enraptured audiences worldwide with his
profound performances, boasting a
repertoire of ten critically acclaimed
albums. Having embarked on numerous solo
and chamber music tours across North and
South America, Europe, and Asia, his
musical prowess knows no bounds. Set
against the picturesque banks of the
River Spey, this exclusive performance
delves into the extraordinary life and
times of Roderick Kemp, who assumed
leadership of The Macallan Distillery in
1892.
The audience is also invited to uncover
the real-life tale of Janet Harbinson,
affectionately known as 'Nettie,' the
former managing director whose life
inspired The Spirit of 1926, The
Macallan's inaugural biopic released in
November 2022.
Following the successful premiere of The
Macallan Pioneers, an immersive
theatrical journey that debuted on
Saturday, July 8, tickets for The
Macallan Reflections on The River Spey
are now available. The script for both
theatrical experiences is crafted by
accomplished actress and voice artist,
Debora Weston, renowned for her roles in
films such as Patriot Games,
Thunderbirds, and Charlie and the
Chocolate Factory.
This extraordinary event will take place
from Friday, August 11 to Sunday, August
27, 2023, within The Macallan's
open-sided marquee situated alongside
the picturesque River Spey. Throughout
the two-hour performance, attendees will
have the pleasure of savouring select
drams of The Macallan's exquisite single
malt Scotch whisky. The Macallan
Reflections on The River Spey brings to
life the talents of professional actors
and actresses, ensuring an unforgettable
experience for all who attend.
