The Macallan An Estate, a Community and a Distillery

Unveiled at the same time as the Macallan The Anecdotes Of Ages Collection is another new limited edition Macallan expression that is a little more accessible price wise at £1,200 a bottle, that is if you get lucky in the ballot, it is The Macallan Sir Peter Blake An Estate, a Community and a Distillery.

The Macallan Sir Peter Blake is a special single malt whisky which has been created to commemorate Sir Peter Blakeís visit to The Macallan Estate on the legendary River Spey. An Estate, A Community, and A Distillery tells the story of some of the colourful characters from The Macallanís past and present and features a label digitally designed by Sir Peter himself.

The distillery say that The Macallan Lead Whisky Maker, Sarah Burgess, was inspired by Sir Peter Blakeís quirky collage style and unique character to create a whisky classic in style with surprising notes of treacle and black pepper.

The Macallan's collaboration with Sir Peter Blake began in 1986 when he designed a label for a set of twelve 1926 60 Years Old single malts. The label artwork in Blakeís signature style reflects the time that the sherry-seasoned cask was laid down to patiently mature at our Distillery during the 1920s.

In 2012 The Macallan collaborated Sir Peter once again to celebrate 80 years of his life. The resulting piece of art is like a treasure trove of colour and stories, containing eight whisky miniatures, each with a label reflecting a particular decade of Sir Peter Blakeís life, surrounded by intricate artwork representing our whisky making process.

As I said The Macallan Sir Peter Blake An Estate, a Community and a Distillery is available via a ballot which you can enter at The Macallan website, it is presented in a custom box inspired by Sir Peter Blakeís art, alongside a certificate outlining the history and heritage on which the art was based, and Sir Peter Blakeís artwork printed on a scroll.

You will also soon find the Macallan The Anecdotes Of Ages Collection as well as the current Macallan whisky range available from specialist online whisky retailers such as The Whisky Exchange, The Whisky Shop and Master of Malt
