Luss
Distillery welcomes more than 55,000
guests and hosts almost 5,000 whisky and
gin tastings and tours in its first
year.

Luss Distillery
has celebrated its first year on the
banks of Loch Lomond after welcoming
more than 55,000 visitors and hosting
almost 5,000 whisky and gin tastings and
tours since opening its doors.
The multi-million-pound distillery and
visitor attraction was developed by
independent distiller Loch Lomond Group
and quietly opened in the village of
Luss in October 2025. Its official
launch followed in January 2026, when
First Minister John Swinney cut the
ribbon to formally open the new spirits
destination.
In its first 12 months, Luss Distillery
has established itself as a destination
for whisky and gin enthusiasts, as well
as visitors looking to discover more
about Scottish spirits in one of
Scotland's most scenic locations.
The attraction has welcomed guests from
around the world, with visitors from the
United States accounting for 8% of all
visits, alongside significant numbers
travelling from Germany, the Netherlands
and France.
The opening of Luss Distillery has also
seen the production of the group's Ben
Lomond Gin brand move to the shores of
Loch Lomond. The distillery provides a
dedicated brand home for the
award-winning Loch Lomond Whiskies
portfolio, while also bringing Ben
Lomond Gin's production and visitor
experience together at the same
location.
Visitors can explore the wider Loch
Lomond Group portfolio through the
distillery's retail space, which
includes whisky, gin, champagne and
other spirits from brands including Glen
Scotia and Littlemill.
Luss Distillery visitor experience
Luss Distillery offers a programme of
whisky and gin tours and tastings,
giving visitors the opportunity to learn
more about the production of Scottish
whisky and gin while discovering the
stories behind the group's brands.
Guests can also explore the distillery
at their own pace, with the building
designed to provide a more informal
visitor experience alongside its
dedicated tours and tastings.
The attraction has received strong
feedback during its first year,
achieving a five-star rating on
Tripadvisor and 4.9 stars on Google
Reviews. It has also recorded a Net
Promoter Score of 94 and was awarded a
five-star quality grading by the
Association of Scottish Visitor
Attractions (ASVA) just months after
opening.
To celebrate its first anniversary, Luss
Distillery is running a programme of
special offers and events from 9 to 16
October 2026.
Visitors will be able to take advantage
of free bottle engraving, while the
on-site Scoff & Patter will offer a
special Serve & Slice promotion
featuring a slice of birthday cake and a
Ben Lomond Gin cocktail.
There will also be 25% off whisky and
gin experiences and 10% off merchandise
in the distillery shop throughout the
anniversary week. Luss Distillery will
additionally host an Open House for
local residents and partners who have
supported the attraction during its
first year.
For Tony MacLean, Brand Home Manager at
Luss Distillery, the first year has
demonstrated the appeal of bringing
whisky and gin together at a destination
overlooking Loch Lomond.
Tony MacLean said: "It has been a
whirlwind first year, and as I look back
on the past 12 months, I am so proud of
what we have built here.
“Luss Distillery is unlike anything else
in Scotland. It is a place where the
stories of whisky and gin are brought
together under one roof, making it
incredibly unique and appealing to
visitors with very different interests.
Our spectacular location on the banks of
Loch Lomond undoubtedly plays a huge
part in attracting visitors.
"From the moment visitors arrive, there
is a real sense of discovery, both for
the local area and for our offering.
Guests consistently talk about is the
opportunity to get behind the scenes,
hear the stories behind our brands and
taste premium whisky and gin in such a
spectacular setting. They also really
value access to products they cannot buy
elsewhere. Our Luss Exclusive Casks have
been particularly successful, and we are
continuing to develop more products that
are only available at Luss.
"After such a strong first year, it is
exciting to see how the destination is
establishing itself as a place where
people can discover our spirits, enjoy
the landscape and create a memorable
Loch Lomond experience."
With more than 55,000 visitors in its
first year, Luss Distillery has quickly
established itself as a significant new
Scottish whisky and gin visitor
