Longrow malt whisky is produced at the
Springbank distillery Campbeltown. There
was once a Longrow distillery which was
a neighbouring distillery to Springbank
but this closed in 1896. The last
remaining warehouse of the old Longrow
distillery actually now shelters
Springbanks bottling plant.
Although Longrow is produced in the same
distillery as Springbank it is a very
different malt due to its different
production methods. Unlike Springbank,
Longrow malt is 100% dried above
a peat fire, giving it a stronger taste.
Also Longrow has a classic double
distillation unlike Springbank which has
a 2.5 times distillation. Longrow is
exclusively matured in refill casks. At
present, Longrow is
mainly available as a 10 year old malt, but
a 15 years old will be widely available
soon. There are also a number of vintage
special finish bottlings available, both
original and independent bottlings.

Longrow Tasting Notes

 Longrow
13 Year Old Sherry Wood.
Colour:
Amber-Golden.
Nose:
Lush sweetness with milk chocolate &
autumn fruits. Strong hints of burning
embers.
Taste:
Very rich & oily in body with
toffee apples and cloves dominating
at first. Not 'In Your Face' Peatiness
but rather subtle smoky undertones well
integrated into the character of the
malt.
Finish:
Long and warming. The perfect seasonal
dram.
