The London
Distillery Company reimagines its past
with the launch of Yesteryear 6 Year Old
Rye whisky.

The London Distillery Company (TLDC) has
unveiled Yesteryear – a six-year-old
single London rye whisky that revisits
and reinterprets the distillery’s
pioneering LV-1767 Edition, first
released in 2018.
Crafted from the remaining spirit of
TLDC’s landmark bottling – the first
whisky distilled in London in over a
century – Yesteryear was discovered
preserved in glass and later revived
following the company’s acquisition by
Gleann Mòr Spirits. The whisky was
returned to wood for further maturation,
transforming a historic release into a
bold new expression of the spirit that
reignited London’s whisky scene.
Founded with the vision of reconnecting
the capital to its distilling heritage,
TLDC helped restore whisky-making to
London, uniting traditional
craftsmanship with contemporary
innovation. Yesteryear continues that
story, maintaining the distinctive rye
character of the original LV-1767
distillate while exploring how that
inaugural whisky might be reimagined for
today’s palate. The result is a spirit
that bridges eras – both familiar and
refreshingly modern, blending history
and progress in equal measure.
Among TLDC’s legacy casks, remnants of
the LV-1767 Edition were found sealed in
glass – a preserved marker of London’s
whisky revival. Originally crafted from
100% Warminster Rye and matured in
English oak, the 2014 distillate had
been bottled in 2018 under the LV-1767
name, honouring Lea Valley Distillery,
the last company to produce whisky in
London before TLDC. Rather than leaving
this milestone untouched, TLDC’s revival
team chose to return the spirit to wood,
allowing it to evolve and mature anew.
After an additional eighteen months in
First-fill Oloroso sherry octaves, the
whisky was reassembled into a refill
sherry quarter cask for a further six
months, uniting the flavours into a
seamless and expressive whole. The final
result is a six-year-old rye whisky that
captures London’s dual spirit – steeped
in heritage yet driven by reinvention.
Only 188 bottles of Yesteryear London
Single Rye Whisky have been produced.
Bottled at 52.3% ABV, with a recommended
retail price of £69.95, it will be
available from Friday 14th
November from specialist online whisky
shops such as
The Whisky Exchange
and
