Lochlea
extends to whisky aficionados the
opportunity to acquire a slice of the
distillery's heritage by granting the
public the rare chance to possess their
very own cask of Lochlea spirit.
This spring,
Lochlea Distillery in Ayrshire is
offering you the chance to own your very
own cask of Lochlea spirit.
Marking the debut of their Private Cask
Programme to the public, this offering
was previously exclusive to private
customers who joined their waiting list
from 2018 onwards.
The Lowland Single Estate distillery is
providing a unique experience for those
interested in purchasing one of
Lochlea’s coveted casks. Every step of
the process, from sale to enjoyment, is
conducted directly between the
distillery team and the cask owner(s).
Upon purchase, owners embark on a
personal whisky journey, including
visits to their cask at the distillery
(not typically open to the public),
participation in a dedicated Cask
Owner’s Day, sampling the evolving
liquid as it matures into single malt
whisky, and becoming part of the Lochlea
family and its award-winning brand from
an early stage.
The distillery is offering you the
option to choose between two types of
casks: first-fill Bourbon Barrels or
first-fill Oloroso Sherry Hogsheads,
catering to individual flavour
preferences. All casks are stored under
bond at the distillery for a minimum of
10 years. Beyond this period, owners can
elect to extend storage, bottle under
their personal label, or sell back to
the distillery as desired.

on the farm here at Lochlea. This, along
with our finest quality casks and
decades of distilling expertise gives
our spirit a distinctive character and
ensures we are as sustainable and
traceable as possible."
Lochlea’s Private Cask Programme is
currently open for a limited time,
inviting those interested in owning a
cask for personal exploration and

Beyond the opportunity to purchase a
cask, Lochlea currently offers a
selection of whiskies available
year-round, highlighted by their
flagship expression: Our Barley. This
unpeated single malt undergoes
maturation in a blend of Bourbon,
Oloroso, and STR casks, resulting in a
richly flavoured, fruity, and biscuity
spirit.
Complementing Our Barley, Lochlea
introduces seasonal releases that
reflect the farm's rhythms: Ploughing
(March), Sowing (April), Harvest
(August), and Fallow (November).
Additionally, limited edition annual
batches of Cask Strength are unveiled in
early summer, catering to enthusiasts
seeking whiskies with higher alcohol by
volume (ABV).
