Lochlea has
revealed the concluding release in its
UK-exclusive collaboration with Overtone
Brewery: Lochlea Overtone Over & Stout.

release in its UK-exclusive
collaboration with Overtone Brewery:
Lochlea Overtone Over & Stout. Produced
entirely on-site—grown, distilled, and
matured at the independent,
single-estate, family-run distillery in
Ayrshire—this whisky highlights
Lochlea’s dedication to local sourcing,
sustainability, and full in-house
maturation.
The partnership with Overtone Brewery,
the Glasgow craft producer, began when
Lochlea supplied casks for maturing
Overtone’s stout, which were later
returned to Ayrshire for whisky
finishing. This second and final
instalment in the UK-exclusive series
comprises only five casks: three
stout-seasoned casks (two Bourbon
barrels and one STR barrique), alongside
one first-fill Bourbon barrel and one
ex-peated Bourbon barrel.
This year’s edition brings additional
depth, showcasing a spirit that has
matured for an extra 12 months. The
extended ageing intensifies the
stout-derived earthy and chocolate tones
while amplifying sweet vanilla and
subtle smoke. The carefully married
combination produces a profile that
feels both recognisable and newly
refined. Lochlea encourages whisky fans
to savour this concluding chapter of the
Overtone partnership, created with
meticulous attention and craft.
Trade Sales Manager Emma Kirk said: "As
you all know, last year we collaborated
with Glasgow based craft brewery,
Overtone, as they were on the hunt for
some whisky casks to mature their first
ever double mash stout in, and we kindly
obliged. We released three of these
casks (olo, bbn, str) last year, for our
inaugural Overtone Stout release which
was a massive success! This left us with
3 remaining stout casks maturing in our
onsite warehouse"
Emma continued: "This year, we have
brought these 3 remaining casks
together, which have had a whopping
extra 12 months maturation time,
compared to their sister casks that we
bottled last year. The result? A richer
& fruiter dram, with even more of that stouty
goodness imparting on our Lochlea
spirit. This bottling draws
collaboration to a close, for now, and
this is why we have amply named this
release Over & Stout. I hope you enjoy
this dram as much as we do. It's the
perfect dram to enjoy with your nearest
and dearest this Christmas."
This limited expression is bottled at
52% ABV, non-chill filtered, and free
from added colour, retaining its natural
character. The nose combines sweet stout
notes with light smoke and oak; the
palate offers creamy vanilla, cinder
toffee, and BBQ smoke; and the finish
delivers lingering spice with touches of
green oak, rye bread, and cereal.
Lochlea Overtone Over & Stout will be
released on 4 December 2025 at an RRP of
£59.99 and will be available from specialist online whisky
shops such as
