Loch Lomond is just one of seven different malt whiskies which is produced at the Loch Lomond distillery. The distillery is able to produce more than one malt because it uses Lomond stills which are an unusual design pot stills. These pot stills can produce whiskies of different weights because of the rectifying columns in the still head. Grain whisky is also produced on site. As well as the Loch Lomond malt the distillery also produces Old Rhosdhu, Inchmurrin, Glen Douglas, Inchmoan, Croftengea and the quite heavily peated Craiglodge.

The distillery was converted from a dyeing factory in the mid 1960's and is located very close to Loch Lomond. It actually sits on the Highland/Lowland line, but as its water source is above the Highland line the distillery is considered as being in the Highland region. It was closed in 1984, but reopened again in 1987 and has been in production since.
