Kilchoman has unveiled a limited edition
Kilchoman Machir Bay Cask Strength 2025.
 Three
years after the last Kilchoman Machir
Bay Cask Strength release, Kilchoman
returns with the Machir Bay Cask
Strength 2025 edition — and the
distillery tells me it’s everything fans
have been waiting for.
This is the first cask strength bottling
since the evolution of the Machir Bay
vatting, and it’s a dram that wears its
Islay heritage proudly. Heavily peated
and bottled straight from the cask,
capturing the raw energy and vibrancy
that define Kilchoman’s house style.
Expect the classic Machir Bay character,
but amplified — peat smoke at full
throttle, bright citrus, warm spice, and
a silky sweetness running through every
sip.
Kilchoman tells me that in the glass,
the whisky shows a deep golden hue,
richer than the core expression. The
nose opens with bold peat smoke, sweet
vanilla, and caramel from bourbon
barrels, layered with citrus, tropical
fruit, and delicate floral and mineral
undertones. On the palate, it’s
full-bodied and warming, where creamy
malt sweetness balances maritime smoke,
fresh and candied citrus, toffee, and
gentle spice. The finish is long and
evolving, with waves of smoke fading to
vanilla, toasted coconut, and a soft
saline touch.
