Jameson
Whiskey fans can now bottle there own
Jameson Select Reserve Cask Strength
Black Barrel whiskey in Dublin and Cork.
 Fans
of Jameson Irish Whiskey will be pleased
to hear that you will be now be able
to Bottle Your Own whiskey when visiting the Old
Jameson Distillery, Dublin, and the
Jameson Experience Midleton in Cork.
You will also be pleased to hear
that it is no standard bottle of Jameson
which you get the chance to bottle, the new initiative gives whiskey fans
the chance to personally fill a bottle of Jameson
Select Reserve Cask Strength Black
Barrel from a live bourbon cask.
The Jameson Select Reserve Black Barrel is
the newest member of the Jameson family,
it is a blend
of Single Pot Still Irish Whiskey
and a rare small batch grain whiskey,
which is triple distilled in small
quantities once a year at the Midleton
Distillery in Cork. Some of the pot
still component in Jameson Black Barrel
is matured in extra-charred casks, hence
the name. The rest of the pot still is
matured in the normal ex-bourbon or
lightly toasted sherry casks.
The whisky doesn't carry an age
statement but I believe it has an
average age of 12 years with most of the
Pot Still whiskey in the blend being at
least 12 years and some quite a bit
older and the grain whiskey being the
young component.
This is the first time the Black Barrel
has been available at its natural
cask strength which should vary from
cask to cask but should be around 60%
ABV. It will only be available at cask
strength exclusively through the Bottle Your Own
facilities at the Old Jameson
Distillery, Dublin, and the Jameson
Experience Midleton in Cork at the cost
of €100 for a 70cl bottle.
Visitors can personalise the label
by hand with their name, the date and
the whiskey’s cask number and ABV,
before logging their personal details in
a Bottle Your Own ledger, becoming a
part of the Jameson legend.
Brian Nation, Master Distiller at The
Midleton Distillery, this week marked the launch
of the new Jameson Bottle Your Own
facilities at the Old Jameson
Distillery, Dublin, by hand-filling a
70cl bottle of a new and rare Jameson
Irish Whiskey.
