 Ian
Macleod & Company Limited was
established on 26 October 1933 by
Leonard J. Russel. Today Ian Macleod &
Co Ltd is known as Ian Macleod
Distillers Limited, following the
acquisition of Glengoyne Distillery and
the Langs brands in April 2003.

Distillers Ltd is one of the largest and
most widely respected independent family
companies within the whisky industry.
Leonard J Russell, the company's
founder, believed strongly in the value
of independence. Beholden to no single
distiller, he bought only those whiskies
which met his own and his customers'
exacting standards. Success reinforced
his beliefs, and within the space of a
few years he established for the company
an enviable reputation within the Scotch
whisky trade.
Today,
Ian Macleod Distillers Ltd are the brand
proprietors of Glengoyne Highland single
malt, Isle of Skye blended Scotch
whisky, Lang's blended Scotch whisky,
Hedges & Butler, King Robert II, The
Chieftain's and Dun Bheagan Ranges,
Smokehead Islay single malt, Six Isles
Island blended malt and Macleod's single
malt Whiskies. They currently produce
and sell over 15 million bottles of
spirits per year.
