Whisky Focus - Grant's Signature A New Rich Malty Blended Whisky Review

Grant's Signature A New Rich Malty Blended Whisky

10th June 2014

Grant's launch a Tesco exclusive Signature expression.

As the growth of blended Scotch looks set to accelerate and more and more whisky drinkers are looking to try something new William Grant's have announced the launch of Grant's Signature, a new expression which they tell me is designed to meet the needs of younger whisky enthusiasts.

Having had a few drams of the new whisky tonight I can say it also meets my needs, it is a very easy to drink blended whisky which is full of lovely malty character and absolutely no sign of heavy handed colouring which can be the curse of blends, just a skilfully constructed blend of malt and grain whisky.

Grant’s Signature will launch initially as an exclusive to Tesco supermarkets this month, before being rolled out across other major UK outlets later in the year.

With an ABV of 40%, the new whisky's rich and malty character should appeal to all whisky drinkers.

An ideal whisky for any whisky drinker searching for something new and with Fathers Day next weekend I would suggest if you are looking for something different for your whisky drinking Dad I am sure he would be more than pleased to receive a bottle of the new Grant's Signature.

Available in Tesco from June 2014, Grant’s Signature has an RRP of £18.49.

Grant's Signature Tasting Notes

William Morrison's Tasting Notes:

Colour:  Deep gold.

Nose:  Vanilla, and a light candied fruitiness

Taste: Lovely sharp malty notes dance around the mouth. Mild creamy vanilla sponge cake, a bit of honey and a mild candied sweetness. A bit of caramel and spice in the background.

Finish: Mildly drying oak, honey with some vanilla and spice contributing to the fun.

Comment: Another outstanding high quality blend from Grant's that wont bust the bank, I really enjoyed this. A lovely easy to drink blend which wouldn't be out of place in a blended or single malt whisky drinkers cabinet due to it malty character. You could say Grants have discovered a missing link between blended and single malt Scotch. For the price I highly recommend this one.

SMW Scotch Blended Whisky Score 93/100
