The new Gordon & MacPhail Speyside Collection
contains 6 very old and very rare
Speyside single malt whiskies.

If
you have a taste for old & rare whisky
then you will love the the new "Speyside
Collection" which specialist independent
bottler Gordon & MacPhail has assembled together for your pleasure. They have just launched a collection of 6 very old and
very rare single malt whiskies from 6 of
Speyside's finest distilleries which have
been hand selected from Gordon &
MacPhail's extensive selection of
maturing whisky stock.
G & M tell me that this first release limited edition
Speyside Collection hosts a range of
flavour profiles, from the Gordon & MacPhail
Smith’s Glenlivet 1948 the oldest whisky
in the collection, which they describe
as having fruity and peppery notes, to the Glen Grant
1949 described as having a slightly
smoky finish, and the Strathisla 1953
described as having flavours of exotic
fruit, sherry and crushed almonds.
Showcasing whiskies from across the
region, the Speyside Collection also
offers Gordon & MacPhail Mortlach 1954,
which G & M describe as a spicy and creamy whisky, the Longmorn 1967, which
they say is bursting
with warming spiciness followed by
stewed fruit and citrus flavours, and
Linkwood 1972, which they say has flavours of
chilli spice, banana and dark chocolate.
A limited edition of 75 Speyside
Collections will be available for sale
in this first release and all the
whiskies in the collection will also be
available to buy separately.

As you can probably imagine you will
have to dig deep into your pocket to get
your hands on such an old and rare
collection, it will set you back a cool
£10,500 here in the UK. Prices in
overseas markets may differ due to local
taxes and import duties.
I would love to tell you how good they
are but I haven't had a chance to taste
them but given G & M's past track record
of of turning out some outstanding old &
rare single malts I would have high
hopes for these, you will find the
official tasting notes for the 6
whiskies below.
Presented in a wooden case the Gordon & MacPhail Speyside
Collection will
be available from specialist online
whisky retailers such as
