Review of the
new Glen Moray 21 Year Old Portwood
Finish which now sits at the top of the
Speyside distillery's Heritage
Collection range.

Some of you may have been lucky
enough to have tried one of a few
different Glen Moray 25 Year Old
Portwood Finish limited edition releases
from the Speyside distillery around 6 or
7 years ago, they varied from good to
outstanding in quality and were all the
creative handiwork of Master Distiller
Graham Coull.
Well in August just past the distillery
added a new Glen Moray 21 Year Old
Portwood Finish to its Elgin Heritage
Collection range, once again the
creative handiwork of Master Distiller
Graham Coull, but this time it will be a permanent
ongoing expression albeit with limited
availability annually given its age and
maturing stock levels.
As it turns out the new Glen Moray 21
Year Old Portwood Finish appears to be
Master Distiller Graham Coull's parting
contribution to the Glen Moray's
heritage as he has recently moved on to
pastures new and Glen Moray has yet to
announce Graham's replacement.
Matured for around 19 years in American
ex-Bourbon casks then finished for a
further 2 years in Tawny Port casks
imported from Portugal, a previously
tried and tested formula from the
distillery which previously saw the port
casks impart a rich fruity impression on
to the malty mature Glen Moray spirit.
The Glen Moray 21 Year Old Portwood
Finish is bottled at 46.3%% ABV, it has
an RRP of £125 although it is in
The Whisky Exchange for £120 at the
moment,
you will find it
available from other specialist online whisky
retailers such as
The Whisky Shop and
