Glenmorangie
shares a recipe for their rather
delicious Glenmorangie Journey of
Giraffes cocktail to toast the tallest
animal of them all this World Giraffe
Day.

To help raise awareness of World
Giraffe Day this coming Sunday 21 June,
the longest day of the year of course,
why not raise a very high toast to
celebrate the tallest animal of all with
I have to say a rather delicious
cocktail created with Glenmorangie
Original, the Glenmorangie’s Journey of
Giraffes.
In early 2020, Glenmorangie forged a
global conservation partnership with GCF
(Giraffe Conservation Foundation) and
RZSS (Royal Zoological Society of
Scotland) to help protect the giraffe,
which is under serious threat in the
wild. During the three-year partnership,
Glenmorangie will support work to
conserve the critically endangered
Nubian (formerly known as Rothschild’s)
giraffe in the wild and help provide a
habitat for these giraffes at Edinburgh
Zoo.
Through this partnership, Glenmorangie
aims to help support and protect this
magnificent animal before it is too
late.
The giraffe has been celebrated as a
symbol of Glenmorangie distillery for
many years: the animal is the same
height as the necks of its towering
copper stills. The tallest in Scotland,
their height is what makes
Glenmorangie’s spirit so complex and
fruity. By supporting giraffe
conservation, the Highland Distillery is
deepening its commitment to the animal’s
future.
Dr Bill Lumsden, Director of Distilling,
Whisky Creation & Whisky Stocks at The
Glenmorangie Company, said: "During a
time of such uncertainty, we’re
incredibly proud to be able to stand
shoulder to shoulder with the Giraffe
Conservation Foundation and play our
part in protecting our ‘spirit animal’
for tomorrow. We’d like to celebrate
World Giraffe Day on Sunday with
Glenmorangie fans near and far, asking
them to raise a glass of one of our most
beloved cocktails in honour of these
iconic creatures."
Create Glenmorangie’s Journey of
Giraffes at home this World Giraffe Day:
Matured in ex-bourbon casks for a
decade, Glenmorangie Original is
delicate and approachable, with notes of
citrus and the creamy aroma of vanilla.
The floral fruitiness of the expression
ripples along the palate leaving hints
of orange and peach.
Ingredients::
- 50ml Glenmorangie Original
- 1-2 teaspoons of orange
marmalade
- 100ml Fever Tree Premium Indian
tonic water (or similar)
- Ice
- Garnish: Dried orange
Method:
- Spoon the marmalade into a
highball glass and add the
measurement of Glenmorangie
Original. Stir with a spoon to
combine the jam and the whisky
together. Fill the glass up with ice
cubes, top with tonic water, and
stir again. To finish, add a slice
of dried orange to complement the
flavour and colour of your cocktail.
Glenmorangie Original is available
from most whisky retailers and high
street supermarkets and you will also
find it available along with the current
Glenmorangie whisky range from specialist
online whisky retailers such as
The Whisky Exchange,
The Whisky Shop and
Master of Malt
