Glenmorangie
Highland single malt Scotch whisky has
introduced Glenmorangie The Thirty, a
rich and complex expression that becomes
the oldest whisky in the distillery’s
core range.

Glenmorangie Highland single malt Scotch
whisky has unveiled Glenmorangie The
Thirty, described as a rich and complex
expression that now stands as the oldest
whisky in the distillery’s core range.
Crafted through a combination of
creativity and expertise, they tell me
that this spicy, fruit-forward single
malt highlights the impact of extended
maturation and cask finishing. Departing
from the distillery’s classic house
style, The Thirty brings together a rare
parcel of whisky finished for many years
in Burgundy red wine casks with
Glenmorangie matured in traditional
bourbon barrels, resulting in notes of
dark fruit, cumin and clove.
For over 180 years, Glenmorangie's
whisky makers have continuously pushed
the boundaries of innovation in pursuit
of excellence. Under the direction of Dr
Bill Lumsden MBE, Director of Whisky
Creation, the team distils its spirit in
exceptionally tall stills to achieve the
brand's signature elegance. Their goal
has always been to refine their craft
while exploring new dimensions in
whisky-making, and The Thirty is said to
reflect that dedication and expertise.
The character of The Thirty has been
developed over three decades, guided by
Dr Bill's extensive experience in wood
management and cask finishing. At its
core is a distinctive, fruit-laden
single malt that has spent more than 15
years finishing in Burgundy red wine
casks, making up the majority of the
blend and reflecting Dr Bill's
longstanding interest in the region.
This richness is carefully balanced with
a second component aged entirely in
bourbon casks, adding structure and
subtlety. The result is a layered whisky
with flavours of cherries, berries,
cumin and clove, alongside softer notes
of orange and peach.
The whisky is presented in a deep purple
box inspired by the tones of Burgundy
wine, accented with copper details that
reference Glenmorangie's tall stills, as
well as touches of the brand’s signature
orange.
Dr Bill said: "When time and the alchemy
of whisky are brought together in
exactly the right way, incredible single
malts like Glenmorangie The Thirty are
born. It takes three decades to nurture
this whisky to its full potential – and
we select only the casks which can stand
the test of time. Showcasing a whisky
long finished in Burgundy casks, The
Thirty balances richer, fruity flavours
with hints of our signature, elegant
style. Unexpected aromas of raspberries
and cherries lead into tastes of ripe
peach and candied orange cut through by
leather and spice. This single malt is
our celebration of age and imagination,
30 years in the making."
Glenmorangie The Thirty will be
