Glenmorangie
unveils three new travel retail
exclusive age statement whiskies, The
Accord 12 Year Old, The Elementa 14 Year
Old and The Tribute 16 Year Old.

Glenmorangie has unveiled three new
travel retail exclusive expressions, all
three the creative work of
Glenmorangie's Dr Bill Lumsden, Director
of Distilling, Whisky Creation & Whisky
Stocks at the distillery. Each of the
new whiskies carries a clear age
statement and each has its own unique
taste which Glenmorangie tells me
showcases a different and demanding art,
perfected by the Men of Tain through the
years at the Highland Distillery.
Each whisky is distilled in
Glenmorangie’s signature copper stills,
the tallest in Scotland, for a fruity
and fragrant spirit. And each reveals
the Distillery’s mastery of techniques such as cask marrying and
wood finishing.
The three new expressions are:
Glenmorangie The Accord 12 Year Old,
described as a
fruity and rich 12 year old whisky which
is a marriage ex-American bourbon and
Oloroso sherry casks. Dr Bill commented
on the Glenmorangie The Accord saying:
"With this whisky, I was inspired to
explore the classic art of marrying
casks. Selecting a smooth, fruity
Glenmorangie aged in bourbon barrels, I
carefully balanced it with a sweet,
spicy whisky matured in Oloroso sherry
butts. Named to reflect its perfect
harmony of casks, The Accord brims with
rich, fruit notes and our whisky’s
signature finesse."
Glenmorangie The Accord 14 Year Old is
bottled at 43% ABV and is presented in a
1 litre bottled and has a RRP of
£47/€53.
Glenmorangie The Elementa 14 Year Old,
described as a
spicy and deep 14 year old whisky which
has been matured in ex-American bourbon
casks then finished in new charred oak
casks. Dr Bill commented on the
Glenmorangie The Elementa saying:
"Glenmorangie was among the pioneers of
wood finishing more than 30 years ago.
Our Elementa celebrates this art,
revealing the depths of flavour a
skilful finish can bring. Taking whisky
aged in bourbon casks, I finished it in
new charred oak casks for woody depth
and warm spice. As its name suggests,
this whisky’s taste deliciously reflects
the natural influences of the new wood."
Glenmorangie The Elementa 14 Year Old is
bottled at 43% ABV and is presented in a
1 litre bottled and has a RRP of
£67/€75.
Glenmorangie The Tribute 16 Year Old,
which they described as a zesty and
rounded 16 year old whisky created from
a heritage spirit batch. Dr Bill
commented on the Glenmorangie The
Tribute saying: "There was a time when
peat was the main source of fuel at
Glenmorangie, giving our spirit a
noticeably smoky style. To celebrate our
heritage, I distilled a rare, lightly
peated spirit with a hint of smoke. Aged
in bourbon casks and united with
Glenmorangie’s signature spirit, our
Tribute’s citrus smoothness and rounded
flavours are a zesty nod to the past."
Glenmorangie The Tribute 16 Year Old is
bottled at 43% ABV and is presented in a
1 litre bottled and has a RRP of
£102/€115.
All three of the new whiskies very much
reminds me of the work and creativity
which goes into the Glenmorangie
distillery's highly rated Private
Edition range of annual releases and if
they match these releases for quality
they will certainly be something to look
out for at the airport when you head off
on your travels. The three new
whiskies will be permanent additions to
Glenmorangie's travel retail line unlike
some of the Glenmorangie travel retail
releases in recent years which were only
available for a limited period.
The three new expressions will be rolled
out in travel retail outlets worldwide
from early 2020. Before that,
Glenmorangie Accord, Glenmorangie
Elementa and Glenmorangie Tribute will
be given an exclusive worldwide premiere
at Dubai Duty Free (Dubai International
airport) from October 2019, and then an
Asia premiere at China Duty Free
Lagardère (Hong Kong International
airport) from November 2019.
I will certainly update you with my
thoughts if and when I get a chance to
taste the new whiskies.
Meanwhile you will find the current
Glenmorangie line up including some of
their current travel retail offerings available from specialist online whisky
retailers such as
The Whisky Exchange,
The Whisky Shop and
Master of Malt
