The Glenlivet
Spectra, 3 X 20cl single malts and the
next instalment in the so far
outstanding mysterious single malt
series from the Speyside distillery.
The Glenlivet Spectra is the latest
release in the mysterious and so far highly
rated single malt whisky series from the
Speyside distillery. This time though as
its name suggests, "Spectra", the
distillery hasn't released just one
single malt whisky but a trio of
mysterious single malts which just like
the previous releases in the series, the
Glenlivet Alpha, Cipher and Code has
been released without any tasting notes,
age statement or information on the
casks the Spectra trio of whiskies were
matured in.
 Each of the trio of Spectra whiskies is
said to be an individual
reinterpretation of The Glenlivet's
signature smooth and fruity style and
those who purchase Spectra will be
invited to explore the whiskies through
an online experience that will allow you
to test your nose and your palate. You
will be given cryptic hints, challenging
you to put your malt knowledge and
experience to the test as you try and
uncover the elusive tasting notes of
each expression..
The only info the distillery has
disclosed on the three 20cl bottles of
The Glenlivet Spectra is its bottling
strength which I have to say is a little
disappointing at 40% ABV considering the
flavoursome strength of its
predecessors, the Glenlivet Alpha,
Cipher and Code which weighed in at
between 48% and 50% ABV. Hopefully this
does not mean much and the new trio is
of the same high quality as its
predecessors.
The Glenlivet Spectra 3 X 20cl trio of
whiskies are priced at £105 for the set
and are now available from specialist
