The Glenlivet
launches a new innovative Fusion Series of
single malts with The Glenlivet Rum &
Bourbon Fusion Cask Selection.
The Glenlivet
Fusion Cask is a new series of
innovative single malt whiskies from The
Glenlivet distillery, the series
launches with a Rum & Bourbon Fusion
Cask Selection.
The Glenlivet Rum & Bourbon Fusion Cask
Selection is a single malt whisky which
has initially been matured in bourbon
barrels then a selected portion of the
whisky was finished in innovatively
recoopered casks crafted from a
combination of wood sourced from
first-fill rum and first-fill bourbon
casks.
These Rum & Bourbon Fusion Casks used to
finish a portion of the whisky were
crafted by the Glenlivet's coopers who
disassembled and reconstructed them to
form the rather innovative casks,
combining the heads of one type of cask
with the staves of another, (basically
they swapped the heads in the casks) creating a
cask that would impart a fusion of the
luscious fruit and caramel-toffee notes
that you would expect to find in each of
the respective casks. Chivas Brothers,
owner of The Glenlivet, asserts that
this technique represents a pioneering
approach within the Scotch single malt
domain.
As you can well imagine this infusion of
flavours from the finish in the
innovative first fill Rum & Bourbon cask
fusion is said to enhance The
Glenlivet's renowned fruity profile. I
haven't had a chance to taste it so I
cant comment on its quality but the
official taste description is what you
would expect given the whisky's
maturation journey, The Glenlivet Rum
and Bourbon Fusion Cask Selection is
said to present enticing aromas of
orange, vanilla custard, caramel,
coconut, and lemon zest. On the palate,
expect a medley of juicy apricot, peach,
crisp apples, toffee-coated bananas, and
hints of subtle cinnamon spice,
culminating in a sweet, velvety finish
with lingering notes of orange.

partners at the cooperage to ensure the

bespoke casks ensures a distinctive and
expertly-crafted finish."
The Glenlivet Rum & Bourbon Fusion Cask
initially launches this month in the USA
with a RRP of $99. Do doubt you will
