Glengoyne
Cask Strength Batch 7 features a small
portion of Bourbon barrel natured whisky
amongst its usual combination of
first-fill European and American oak
Oloroso sherry casks, refill casks.
 If
you are a fan of the Glengoyne Cask
Strength series then you will be pleased
to hear the the distillery has announced
the release of the Glengoyne Cask
Strength Batch No. 007, no link to James
Bond 007 this is simply how Glengoyne print
their batch numbers.
The Glengoyne Cask Strength Batch No.
007 is slightly different to previous
releases in the series, it is the first
to feature a small proportion of bourbon
barrel matured whisky in the cask recipe
so it may be an interesting one for fans
of this series to see how the bourbon
barrel
contribution impacts the style and flavour of
the whisky.
Bottled un-chillfiltered at 58.9% ABV,
Glengoyne Cask Strength Batch No. 007
has been crafted using a combination of
first-fill European and American oak
Oloroso sherry casks, refill casks and
bourbon barrels.
The distillery tells me that the
Glengoyne Cask Strength Batch No. 007
boasts a fruity, malty flavour profile,
featuring notes of cinnamon, orange,
peaches and honey. Its warm amber-gold
hue is imparted from time and wood
alone. This commitment to natural colour
is only possible because of Glengoyne's
wood policy which sees sherry casks
embark on a 6 year journey before
Glengoyne’s new-make spirit is filled
into the oak.
Glengoyne Cask Strength Batch No. 007
follows the launch last month of the
Glengoyne Legacy Series: Chapter One,
the first new global release from
Glengoyne Distillery since October 2017.
John Glass, Malt Master at Glengoyne
Distillery, said:
"The bourbon parcel we used in the
distillation of Glengoyne Cask Strength
Batch No. 007 brought in a sweetness and
a burst of vanilla, which adds a
roundness and depth to this
sherry-dominant whisky. The bourbon
plays a light, but important, part in
the overall cask recipe."

will retail at £59.99 per 70cl bottle,

Producer's Tasting Notes:
Nose:
Apple crumble, cinnamon and orange,
digestive biscuits, malty heart with
almond.
Palate:
Thick mouth feel, spicy with banana,
sweet sherry, peach, honey and crisped
rice.
Finish:
Very long, with appealing oak and fruit.
