Glenfiddich
strikes partnership with Institute of
Directors to celebrate 125th
anniversary.
Glenfiddich will mark its 125th
anniversary by partnering with the
Institute of Directors (IoD) to sponsor
the prestigious Director of the Year
awards 2012. The awards will come at the
end of a four month campaign entitled
‘125 Business Pioneers’, and will see
Glenfiddich work with the IoD to uncover
Britain’s top pioneering spirits from
the past and present – as well as the
ones to watch.
Glenfiddich has worked with Management
Today editor, Matthew Gwyther, to pen an
initial shortlist of 125 pioneers.
Director of the Year judges have
whittled the list down to 30 with IoD
members now being invited to vote to
determine the most pioneering
businessperson in each category at:
www.iod.com/glenfiddich125pioneers.
Additional partnership activity will see
Jamie Milne, Glenfiddich Brand
Ambassador, conducting a number of
tasting sessions at regional IoD events,
which are taking place over the next six
months. As well as tasting the core
range of premium whiskies, the sessions
will also include some of the brand’s
rarer releases.
Annabelle Clarke, Senior Brand Manager
for Glenfiddich, commented: "To mark our
heritage in this very special year and
demonstrate our commitment to business
excellence, we are delighted to sponsor
the IoD 2012 Director of the Year
Awards. As our founder, William Grant,
was a true entrepreneur and pioneer of
the of the single malt Scotch whisky
industry, we feel that the 125 Business
Pioneers campaign has a very natural fit
with our brand heritage and values. We
are extremely proud to be associated
with the UK’s most distinguished network
of business leaders and this partnership
will provide us with an invaluable
opportunity to engage directly with our
target audience."
The campaign will be hosted on the IoD
website and promoted through Director
Magazine and other IoD communications,
including e-newsletters, social media
platforms and at
www.iod.com/glenfiddich125pioneers.
Simon Walker, Director General of the
Institute of Directors, said: "For over
a century, the IoD has been the home of
entrepreneurs and business pioneers, so
this is the perfect project for us. Our
membership ranges from young people
launching their first business to some
of the most experienced business leaders
in the land. We are looking forward to
celebrating the greatest business people
of the past and present, as well as
identifying those who will join that
list in the future. Business is all
about putting the lessons of past
experience together with imaginative new
thinking to generate great ideas for the
future, and this partnership is a great
way to communicate that."
The Glenfiddich ‘125 Business Pioneers’
list will be unveiled in September and
will also be published in a specially
created book, curated by Matthew Gwyther.
The book will tell the stories of each
of the 125 pioneers and explain the
rationale behind their selection.
Details of the list and book will be
announced via a media relations campaign
later in the year.
The IoD 2012 Director of the Year Awards
ceremony (UK Finals) will take place on
5th October at the Lancaster London
hotel, Hyde Park, London and will be
hosted by Michael Portillo.
