Glenfiddich Sponsor Harrys Mountain Heroes

ITN Productions has produced
Glenfiddich's first ever television
sponsorship idents for the upcoming
documentary Harry’s Mountain Heroes,
which airs on 27th August at 9pm on
ITV1.
The broadcast sponsorship will
see idents themed around pioneering
spirit and success in the face of
adversity and feature a stellar line-up
of inspirational figures from the worlds
of sport, exploration and innovation.
Among those featured are the legendary
explorer Sir Ranulph Fiennes OBE,
Paralympic icon Dame Tanni
Grey-Thompson, inventor Trevor Baylis
and Craig Preece, a wounded soldier who
recently took part in the Trois Etapes
Cycling Challenge.
Harry’s Mountain Heroes is a 90-minute
ITV1 documentary about an epic attempt
to summit Mount Everest, which was
undertaken by a team of five wounded
servicemen in May this year. The
expedition was organised by UK charity
Walking With The Wounded and sponsored
by their partner Glenfiddich.
Walking With The Wounded raises funds to
reskill and retrain injured servicemen
and women and support them on their
return to civilian life. By staging
inspirational expeditions which
demonstrate the fortitude and
determination of those taking part, the
charity also aims to inspire others who
face disability and daily challenges.
The ITV programme follows the Walking
With The Wounded team on their
challenging journey from the expedition
launch and training with Prince Harry to
the infamous Khumbu icefall.
Having faced night climbs in near arctic
temperatures and escaped deadly
avalanches, the team’s spirits received
a much-needed lift at Everest Base Camp
when four Glenfiddich competition
winners joined them for the World’s
Highest Whisky Tasting, which was
broadcast live via the internet from a
specially created Glenfiddich yurt.
Glenfiddich has supported their
sponsorship of the Walking With The
Wounded Everest 2012 expedition with a
£2 million pound above and
below-the-line campaign, in order to
raise awareness of the brand’s
partnership with the charity and
encourage consumers to donate.
Edward Parker, Co-Founder of Walking
With The Wounded, commented: "The
support we have received from
Glenfiddich helped to enable our
intrepid team to launch an assault on
one of the world's most imposing natural
challenges. Tackling Mount Everest
proves that, with the right support and
guidance, our wounded can achieve some
truly inspirational feats."
Annabelle Clarke, Senior Brand Manager
for Glenfiddich, commented: “We were
delighted to sponsor the Walking With
The Wounded Everest 2012 Expedition. The
unbelievable courage and determination
shown by these courageous young men in
the face of particularly treacherous
conditions on Everest is truly
inspirational. As a malt whisky brand
which stands for pioneering spirit, we
are immensely proud of our ongoing
partnership with a charity whose work
and ethos are a true embodiment of our
own brand values.”
Derek Dyson, Executive Producer at ITN
Productions, commented: "The creative
was to get subjects to film that have
overcome adversity to do something truly
special, whether this was someone like
Sir Ranulph Fiennes, who's considered
the world's greatest living explorer, or
Trevor Baylis whose inventions have
changed so many lives in Africa. We feel
that this group of special people
complemented the content of the show
while perfectly reflecting Glenfiddich
brand values."
