The Glenfiddich Cask Collection gets a new modern and contemporary look.
Glenfiddich have unveiled a fresh new look for its travel retail Glenfiddich Cask Collection which is made up of 3 single malt whiskies each of which have very different single malt profiles.
Those of you already familiar with the Cask Collection have no need to worry, this is just a new look for the 3 whiskies, it is the same whisky you already know in the bottles.
Those of you who are perhaps unfamiliar with this travel retail range from Glenfiddich, they have been created using Glenfiddich’s innovative Solera Vat process which they pioneered back in 1998 to create the superb and extremely popular Glenfiddich 15 year old.
Glenfiddich Select Cask was matured in hand-selected aged Bourbon, European oak and red wine casks, then finished for at least 2 months in the Select Cask Solera Vat. 1 litre bottle, bottled at 40% ABV.
Glenfiddich Reserve Cask was matured in distinctive Spanish sherry casks, then finished for at least 2 months in the Reserve Cask Solera Vat. 1 litre bottle, bottled at 40% ABV.
Glenfiddich Vintage Cask was produced using peated barley then matured in European oak and American Bourbon casks. 70cl bottle, bottled at 40% ABV.
The new look packaging gives the whisky a more modern and contemporary look which and at the same time highlights the exclusivity and story behind the Solera vat process.
Note that the video shows the old
packaging but I thought you would find
it interesting to see how the Solera
vats which create the 3 whiskies in the
Glenfiddich Cask Collection was
constructed.
Although the Glenfiddich Cask Collection is a travel retail collection it can be found in some specialist whisky shops such as
The Whisky Exchange albeit with the old packaging for the time being.
Glenfiddich Select Cask Review

Nose:
Mild apple, marmalade and sultanas
mingles with light creamy vanilla
toffee.
Taste:
Very smooth, a delicate candied
fruitiness, creamy toffee, some barley
sweetness with just a wee touch of oak
spice.
Finish:
Fresh, candied fruit, toffee, mildly
drying and slowly fading mild peppery
oak spice.
Comment:
This really has a lovely balance of
delicate vanilla, barley sweetness,
candied fruit and oak spice, almost like
a Glenfiddich 12 with some added candied
fruit. A very easy to drink, smooth
delicate Glenfiddich, very much enjoyed
this, I am sure this will become very
popular, a charming dram.

Glenfiddich Reserve Cask Review

Nose:
A deliciously inviting nose, full of
subtleties, some sweet baked apple pie,
mandarin orange, raisins, touch of
ginger, oak spice.
Taste:
The subtle sweetness balances well with
the oak spice. Citrusy, chocolate
raisin, vanilla fudge, sugared almond,
touch of ginger and cinnamon.
Finish:
Deliciously long, slowly mildly drying.
Sweet, spicy, zesty
orange, nutty a touch of cinnamon, coffee and vanilla.
Comment:
Deliciously smooth, sweet and spicier with each mouthful.
A lovely lingering finish.

Nose:
A lovely coastal note, sea salt, hay,
some dark chocolate, touch of spice and
a lovely mild smokiness.
Taste:
A lovely mild creamy peat tanginess. The
vanilla sweetness and smoke balance
well. Some citrus fruitiness, oak spice, gentle vanilla fudge
and a touch of cinnamon.
Finish:
Creamy vanilla coated in sweet peat and
oak spice continues long into the
mildly drying finish.
Comment:
The Glenfiddich Vintage Cask has the
fruity sweet Glenfiddich notes we know
and love but coated in a lovely unique
smokiness. A unique complex and very
easy to drink expression of Glenfiddich,
and one to look out for on your
Glenfiddich malt journey.
