The Glencairn
Glass launches 'The Last Dram' crime
fiction anthology, a collection of short
stories from some of the best up and
coming crime authors around the world
and money raised from the book sale will
go to Maggie’s - a cancer care charity
that provides free expert care and
support in centres across the UK and
online.
The Glencairn
Glass, the renowned whisky glass crafted
by Scotland’s Glencairn Crystal, has
released The Last Dram, a gripping
anthology of crime fiction short stories
by emerging crime writers. This
collection showcases stories from 16
authors who participated in the
Glencairn Glass Crime Short Story
competition over the past three years.
Profits from book sales leading up to
Christmas will be donated to charity.
Since 2020, The Glencairn Glass has
championed Scottish crime literature by
sponsoring the esteemed McIlvanney and
Bloody Scotland Debut crime-writing
awards. In 2021, they launched the
Glencairn Glass Crime Short Story
Competition, inviting both seasoned and
budding crime writers worldwide to
submit their work.
In collaboration with Stirling
University, The Last Dram brings
together some of the competition’s most
compelling entries. University students
assisted with various aspects of the
collection, including story selection,
book design, and layout. Edited by
Scottish crime author Heather J. Fitt,
who recently appeared at the Bloody
Scotland International Crime Writing
Festival, The Last Dram highlights
stories from competition winners,
runners-up, and other standout entrants.
Proceeds from The Last Dram will support
Maggie’s, a charity providing free
cancer care and support across the UK.
The anthology includes tales of murder,
vengeance, and retribution, featuring a
chilling confession from a vengeful food
blogger, a frustrated Isle of Skye tour
guide who exacts brutal punishments on
unruly tourists, and a series of
perplexing murders in a Glasgow police
station in 1928—along with many more
spine-tingling narratives.
Kirsty Nicholson, Design and Marketing
Manager at Glencairn Crystal said:
"We’ve been blown away by the
outstanding quality of the stories that
have been entered into our Glencairn
Glass Crime Short Story Competition over
the last few years. We wanted to
showcase these gripping reads for people
in a collection to support and celebrate
the talented authors and the world of
Scottish crime fiction, whilst raising
money for Maggie’s – a very special
charity. A fine dram of whisky in a
Glencairn Glass is the perfect
accompaniment to settling down with a
good book over the winter months; ‘The
Last Dram’ also provides the perfect
Christmas gift for those friends and
relatives who are difficult to buy for."
The Last Dram book is available in both
e-book format (£5.99) and as a
limited-edition print version (£9.99).
For a special gift, there’s also a
unique set featuring the printed book
and two Glencairn Glasses (£25.99)—a
perfect Christmas present for whisky and
crime fiction enthusiasts! The e-book,
print edition, and gift set can all be
purchased from the Glencairn Glass
online shop under Glencairn Anthology.
