Brookmyre, the winner of this year’s
McIlvanney Prize, was presented with a
giant Glencairn Glass trophy at this
year’s Bloody Scotland Festival
For the fifth
consecutive year, Scottish family-owned
glassware company Glencairn Crystal
which is known for its sturdy wee
Glencairn whisky tasting glass has
sponsored The McIlvanney Prize for
Scottish Crime Book of the Year and the
Bloody Scotland Debut Crime Novel of the
Year, providing its iconic Glencairn
whisky glass as part of the prize.
The winners were revealed at the Bloody
Scotland International Crime Writing
Festival, held from 13th to 15th
September in Stirling. This year's
McIlvanney Prize was awarded to Chris
Brookmyre for The Cracked Mirror, while
the Debut Prize went to Allan Gaw for
The Silent House of Sleep.

winning the McIlvanney Prize and to

the runner up in our Glencairn Glass
short story competition last year. As a
Scottish family company it is an honour
for us to support these prestigious
annual awards with the world’s favourite

Both prestigious literary awards are
presented during the annual Bloody
Scotland International Crime Writing
Festival, held each September. Since its
inception in 2012, the Stirling-based
festival has brought together hundreds
of crime writers, both emerging and
renowned, along with eager attendees.
The festival offers a dynamic line-up of
events, exploring a wide range of
criminal themes, from fictional
forensics and psychological thrillers to
tartan noir and cosy crime.
Its is great to see that Scottish based
Glencairn continues to sponsor The
McIlvanney Prize for Scottish Crime Book
of the Year and the Bloody Scotland
Debut Crime Novel of the Year, their
sturdy wee Glencairn Whisky Tasting
Glass was officially launched in 2001,
