The GlenAllachie distillery has unveiled its inaugural collection of three Regional Exclusive single malt Scotch whiskies, each meticulously refined in unconventional oak casks.

Under the guidance of the highly regarded industry luminary Billy Walker, the Speyside distillery has carved a niche for itself with its audacious approach to cask selection and maturation strategies.

This fresh new trio of Regional Exclusive whiskies encompasses a GlenAllachie 11 Year Old Marsala Wood Finish tailored for the UK (RRSP £65.99), a GlenAllachie 12 Year Old Moscatel Wood Finish tailored for Europe (RRSP £67.99), and a GlenAllachie 10 Year Old Ruby Port Wood Finish exclusively for Asia (RRSP £65.99).

Initiating their journey in American oak ex-Bourbon barrels, each expression underwent an intricate re-racking process into casks handpicked by the renowned wood visionary, Billy Walker.

The UK-exclusive GlenAllachie 11 Year Old underwent an additional aging period of approximately 42 months in casks previously cradling Marsala—a fortified wine originating from the enchanting Italian island of Sicily. This exquisite maturation bestowed the whisky with elegant and harmonious notes of toasted almonds, velvety vanilla custard, and luscious apricot jam.

Across the European landscape, the GlenAllachie 12 Year Old single malt was nurtured for over 42 months in casks that once housed the aromatic Portuguese dessert wine, Moscatel. This unconventional path to maturation infused the whisky with distinct flavours, evoking waves of zesty grapefruit, fragrant honeysuckle, the essence of grape must, and the opulence of poached pear.

Exclusively tailored for the Asian palate, the GlenAllachie 10 Year Old variant underwent a finishing period of approximately 36 months in hogsheads previously graced by Ruby Port. Infused with the vibrant essence of this youthful Portuguese fortified wine, the Ruby Port wood added both a captivating rose hue and intricate layers of succulent plums, rich cocoa powder, invigorating ginger, and honey-kissed figs.

Nurtured within the distillery's 16 on-site warehouses, these expressions were vigilantly monitored until the harmonious equilibrium between the inherent spirit character and the influence of the wood was achieved, a testament to Walker's craftsmanship.

Subsequent to meticulous blending, each single malt was bottled at a robust 48% ABV, untouched by added colouring and left unchill filtered.

Remarking on the riveting new expressions, Walker comments: "Maturation is such an imperative part of the whisky-making journey. These three very special single malts underwent an interesting ageing process in the finest wood. In sourcing our casks, we seek out niche, boutique producers that align with our business model: taking a more hands-on approach and prioritising quality.

"We’re thrilled with the resulting whiskies. Each brings a unique identity to be enjoyed across its chosen region: the Marsala finish is smooth and creamy, the Moscatel finish is fragrant and fresh, and the Ruby Port finish is rich and fruity. Each one demonstrates the value offered by quality wood."

With RRSPs starting at £65.99, the Asia Exclusive will reach shelves in the coming months while The the UK and Europe exclusive will be available from today from
