The GlenAllachie unveils its oldest release to date, The GlenAllachie 35 Year Old.

The GlenAllachie 35 Year OldThe GlenAllachie distillery has unveiled its oldest single malt to date, The GlenAllachie 35 Year Old.

Drawing on decades of expertise, GlenAllachie's veteran whisky maker Billy Walker personally selected six casks from the summer of 1989 for this milestone release.

The whisky, aged in a combination of three Pedro Ximénez casks, one Oloroso cask, and two virgin oak casks, is presented in a luxurious oak box. The result is said to be a rich and complex spirit, described as offering "a luscious symphony of rich mocha, ripe pineapple, sweet spices, and treacle tart."

The UK-made presentation box is adorned with hand-carved details, lined with moleskin-coloured fabric, and includes a solid brass ‘angle’, a plaque celebrating the cask selection, and a removable oak plinth for displaying the decanter.

Accompanying the whisky is a booklet featuring Walker’s handwritten notes on the cask selection and the story behind this bottling, with a cover made from FSC-certified paper derived from spent malt.

The elegant, wide-shouldered decanter, designed to echo the classic GlenAllachie bottle, features gold-inked details printed directly onto the glass. The premium wooden stopper, with gold foiling and the brand’s tagline ‘whisky in good hands’ encircling it, completes the presentation.

Bottled at what should be a flavoursome 48% ABV, naturally coloured and non-chill filtered, the GlenAllachie 35 Year Old is designed to let the spirit within shine on its own.

GlenAllachie's veteran whisky maker/owner Billy Walker commented: "The 35 year old is a testament to The GlenAllachie’s dedication, patience and relentless pursuit of perfection. Unifying the six spectacular casks has created the perfect equilibrium between the sweet influence of Pedro Ximénez, the nutty contribution of Oloroso, and the spiciness of the virgin oak. The amalgamation entails a truly spectacular single malt with opulent notes of spiced caramel, rich espresso, tropical fruits and dark chocolate truffles. If you’re lucky enough to get your hands on a bottle, it’s a whisky to be treasured."

The GlenAllachie 35 Year Old has a RRP of £1,479 and will be available f
