A double Cask
Strength release from The GlenAllachie
distillery, 21 Year Old Cask Strength
Batch 4 and 10 Year Old Cask Strength
Batch 10.
The
GlenAllachie has unveiled the fourth
instalment of one of its long-standing
core range expressions, The GlenAllachie
21 Year Old Cask Strength Batch 4 Single
Malt Scotch Whisky. This latest limited
batch comprises of only 2,000 bottles
and is priced at £306 in the UK, it
follows in the footsteps of its
well-received and highly sought-after
predecessors in the annual release
series.
This rare GlenAllachie 21 Year Old Cask
Strength Batch 4 is the result of a
marriage of single malt aged exclusively
in three vintage Pedro Ximénez Sherry
puncheons from Jerez, Spain. Each cask
was meticulously hand-picked by the
esteemed whisky craftsman, Billy Walker,
renowned for his five decades of
experience in the industry and his
remarkable expertise in wood management
and sensory discernment.
Chosen from the extensive inventory of
over 50,000 casks at the independent
Speyside-based distillery, the Spanish
Sherry wood is said to have bestowed
upon this whisky a complex flavour
profile that complements The
GlenAllachie's distinctive heather honey
character.
This antique auburn-hued liquid is
described as offering a sophisticated
blend of clementine zest, cocoa-drenched
tiramisu, dark cherries, and sticky
Medjool dates.
The whisky is elegantly presented in a
luxurious pine green gift box adorned
with gold foil accents. It has been
bottled at its natural cask strength of
51.1% ABV, featuring its natural colour
and remaining non chill filtered.
In conjunction with this release, The
GlenAllachie is also introducing the
latest iteration of its award-winning
ten-year-old bottling: The GlenAllachie
10 Year Old Cask Strength Batch 10. This
tenth release, priced at £71 in the UK,
is said to boast a robust 58.6% ABV and
has been matured in Pedro Ximénez,
Oloroso, red wine, and American virgin
oak casks, which the distillery says has
resulted in a whisky with layers of ripe
figs, roasted coffee, and citrus peel.
The launches follow last week’s
announcement of the distillery’s new
peated single malt brand,
Meikle Tòir,
which comprises four expressions, each
aged for five years: The Original, The
Sherry One, The Chinquapin One and The
Turbo.
Both The GlenAllachie 21 Year Old Cask
Strength Batch 4 (UK RRSP £306) and The
GlenAllachie 10 Year Old Cask Strength
Batch 10 (UK RRSP £71) will be
available from specialist online whisky
