The Glasgow
Distillery has announced a fresh
six-month schedule for its single malt
whisky tour and tasting experience.

In response to
demand for the public whisky tours
launched in July, The Glasgow Distillery
has announced a fresh six-month schedule
for its single malt whisky tour and
tasting experience. These new dates will
be available exclusively through the
distillery’s website from today, 8
December.
Priced at £45, The Glasgow Distillery
Experience will run on selected weekdays
from 8 December, offering visitors a
behind-the-scenes look at how the
distillery crafts its award-winning
single malts. Guests will also learn
about the production of the distillery’s
broader spirits line-up, including G52
Botanical Vodka, Makar Gin and Banditti
Club Rum.
The two-hour tour begins in the
innovation lab, where visitors get an
insider’s perspective on product
development, experimental spirit recipes
and cask finish trials. From there, the
experience moves into the working
distillery for an in-depth look at the
hands-on processes behind its acclaimed
single malt Scotch whisky.
As one of Scotland’s few distilleries
still employing a dedicated on-site
cooper, the tour includes a live
coopering demonstration, along with the
rare opportunity to sample cask-strength
whisky drawn straight from the barrel.
The visit concludes in the tasting room,
where guests are guided through past and
present Glasgow 1770 releases and can
try a selection of distillery-exclusive
bottling's available for purchase.
The first six months of 2025 tour dates
sold out well in advance, so early
booking is strongly recommended.
Mike Hayward, founder of The Glasgow
Distillery, said: "This is not your
average distillery tour. After selling
out our first release of dates, it's
great to be welcoming even more visitors
into the beating heart of our working
distillery. From a behind-the-scenes
look at our lab to showcasing the
expertise of our on-site cooper, this
experience offers a rare glimpse into
every stage of our spirit-making
process. It’s a chance for guests to
meet our team, understand the passion
behind what we do, and enjoy our spirits
in the place they’re made."
Named after the original Glasgow
Distillery Company, which closed in
1902, the current Glasgow Distillery
became the city’s first new whisky
distillery in more than 100 years when
it opened in 2012. Despite this, it did
not open to the public until July 2025.
The introduction of The Glasgow
Distillery Experience follows a landmark
year for the company, which celebrated
ten years of whisky production in
February with the release of its
inaugural 10 Year Old whisky—a special
edition that sold out in under 20
minutes.
This year also saw the expansion of the
Glasgow 1770 Core Range with the debut
of two new expressions: Glasgow 1770
Ruby Port Cask Finish and Glasgow 1770
Bourbon Cask Matured. The distillery
received numerous accolades, including
Excellence in Branding at The Scottish
Whisky Awards, Best Lowland Single Malt
for Glasgow 1770 Peated, and Best Small
Batch Single Malt for the Ruby Port Cask
Finish at the World Whiskies Awards
Scotland 2026. Additionally, on-site
cooper Hugh McMurray was awarded Cooper
of the Year, and the distillery earned a
Highly Commended mention in the
Distillery of the Year category.
