The Glasgow
Distillery has unveiled a new permanent
addition to its core range: Glasgow 1770
Ruby Port Cask Finish Single Malt Scotch
Whisky.
 The Glasgow Distillery—renowned for its
innovative small-batch, cask-finished
single malts—has unveiled a new
permanent addition to its core range:
Glasgow 1770 Ruby Port Cask Finish
Single Malt Scotch Whisky.
Crafted from the distillery’s signature
unpeated, double-distilled spirit, this
six-year-old expression undergoes a
meticulous dual maturation: an initial
three years and ten months in first-fill
ex-bourbon casks, followed by two years
and ten months in ruby port hogsheads.
The result is a vibrant whisky layered
with notes of summer berries, dark
cherries, and rich vanilla.
Positioned as a bridge between the
distillery’s award-winning Signature
Range—featuring peated, unpeated, and
triple-distilled styles—and its
experimental Small Batch Series, this
release was inspired by the success of a
previously sold-out ruby port cask
finish limited edition.
Glasgow 1770 Ruby Port Cask Finish is
the first in a planned series of
progressively aged, batched releases
that will evolve in character as the
distillery’s stocks mature.
Mike Hayward, founder of The Glasgow
Distillery, said: "Sometimes we find a
combination that works perfectly with
one of our three core spirit styles and
the great response we’ve seen from a
previous limited-edition ruby port
cask-finished bottling has been the
driver behind making it a permanent
addition to our range.
"The smooth and fruity base of our
double distilled style is accentuated
with maturation in ex-bourbon and ruby
port casks, adding layers of dark
fruits, summer berries and rich vanilla.
The idea behind progressively increasing
the age of this batched expression is so
that our followers can join us on the
journey as the expression continues to
complexify and take on further nuances
as it matures for future bottlings."
This addition to the core range marks
another milestone in what has been a
landmark year for The Glasgow
Distillery. The pioneering producer
celebrated a decade of whisky-making in
March and followed in April with the
release of its first-ever 10 Year Old
expression—a commemorative bottling that
sold out in less than 20 minutes.
Adding to the excitement, the distillery
will open its doors to the public for
the first time on Wednesday, 23rd July,
launching its inaugural whisky tour and
tasting experience.
