Gordon &
MacPhail appoint Phillip White as new
Chief Executive.
 Gordon & MacPhail, the family-owned
whisky specialist based in Elgin,
Speyside, has announced the appointment
of Phillip White as Chief Executive.
Phillip White will assume his role in
early April 2024, steering the company
through its next phase of development
with a primary focus on expanding its
international footprint for proprietary
brands such as Benromach and The Cairn.
Bringing a wealth of leadership
experience from the food and drink
industry, White most recently served as
the Managing Director of Kent Frozen
Foods and Medina Foodservice. His
extensive career in marketing, sales,
and distribution within the food
wholesale and spirits sectors, including
a decade-long tenure with Bacardi and
Brown-Forman, positions him well for
guiding Gordon & MacPhail's strategic
growth. With a background in both family
businesses and publicly traded
companies, White is poised to support
the team in achieving ambitious growth
aspirations.
Neil Urquhart, Chairman at Gordon &
MacPhail, expressed delight in welcoming
Phillip to the team, citing his
outstanding leadership qualities and
extensive experience with global brands,
UK retail distribution, and the broader
spirits industry.

The appointment of the new Chief
Executive follows the company's
announcement of a robust financial
performance for the fiscal year ending
February 2023. Total sales surged by
24.3% to £46.5m, driven by the
successful launch of Gordon & MacPhail
Generations 80 Years Old, marking the
company's oldest single malt to date.
Benromach maintained its significant
role in the company's success, with
sales and volumes registering impressive
increases of 14.5% and 9.5%,
respectively.
In 2022, Gordon & MacPhail inaugurated
its second whisky distillery, The Cairn,
situated in the Cairngorm National Park.
As part of the organisation's commitment
to ensuring the enduring success of its
brands and investing in the future of
the whisky industry, the distillery
commenced operations in May 2022 and
opened its doors to the public in
October 2022.
