Following a 2 year shutdown of the Tobermory distillery for maintenance and a major refurbishment of the distillery they have launched a new signature malt, the Tobermory 12 Year Old which replaces the Tobermory 10 Year Old.
Other than the obvious, an extra 2 years maturation the other difference with the new whisky is that a small proportion of the whisky finished in virgin American oak casks.
You can read my thoughts on the new Tobermory 12 expression here:

Thanks William, this is certainly on my list. I for one thought the Tobermory 10 was a very solid and underrated malt with a unique character. I'm normally sceptical of virgin oak but this new 12 sounds good.

It does sound good for an easy drinking malt.

I have been a bit of a fan of the 10 year old since they bottled it at 46% and non chillfiltered, I will probably add a bottle of the new 12yo to my next order. Cheers for your thoughts on it William
