Highland Park Viking Tribe single malt whisky is a new expression from the Orkney Island distillery which will be available exclusively from Amazon.
Bottled at 46% ABV and described as having intensified flavours of citrus fruits, sweet vanilla and peppery spices, balanced with Highland Park's characteristic aromatic smokiness.
It will be released on 20th November and can be pre-ordered now from Amazon

| Cheers William, I wasn't aware or this one. I wonder if they will put it on offer in the run up to Christmas. |

Anyone else feeling overwhelmed by the number of NAS whiskies Highland Park are coming out with? Viking Tribe, Dragon Legend, Spirit of the Bear, Valkyrie, Valknut and others in duty free...
In all honesty I've not done my homework, and correct me if I'm wrong but it seems like they are just slapping another Viking-like word on a new bottle! |

No I am not at all overwhelmed, the Viking Tribe at this price point is more than welcome as far as I am concerned, I am happy to give it a go but knowing Amazon and with Christmas approaching there could be a chance it may go on offer so I am happy to wait before purchasing.
I thought the travel retail range now only has one NAS entry level whisky Spirit of the Bear, the other 3 whiskies that now make up the HP travel retail range now have age statements 14, 16 and 18 year old.
I am more than happy that HP does offer new limited releases once and a while, whether they have age statements or not and the Viking themed marketing behind them doesn't bother me either, HP is produced on an island with a clear Viking connection and if associating the whisky with the islands Viking past helps promote and sell it, it doesn't bother me in the slightest.
I thought Valkyrie was ok for its price, Full Volume was a fairly recent limited release which was an outstanding expression of HP IMO.
I am more than happy that Highland Park continues to entertain whisky drinkers with new expressions and I am far from feeling overwhelmed, quite the opposite. |

| Highland Park really have been churning out the NAS whiskies recently. Not all of them have been great though. |

| Not all Highland Parks have been brilliant but I have never had a bad one tbh, I think perhaps expectations are very high for Highland Park and it is easily knocked especially when it is NAS and it falls short of peoples expectations. I will certainly welcome the Viking Tribe and good to see it is bottled at 46% |

Thanks Cuba for your comprehensive reply.
I am a fan of Highland Park, it just worries me as a lot of people have seen a drop in quality of the 12 year old, and HP are just steamrolling ahead with all these NAS expressions. In my opinion, as long as they have enough good stock for the 12 year old then they can release as many Viking bottles as they like. |

I liked Dragon Legend which was released about this time a year ago, it didnt last long, got it as a xmas gift. This one will be drinkable, but I have chosen not to keep up with HP releases as mentioned the perception of loads of NAS names, but even seeing the travel retail names turns me off (even when looking at the age) i just think of the old cartoon Bravestarr.. anyway, HP Eagle, wolf, bear, in whatever order they are aged.. speed of a puma would have sealed it! When I see this headline of new Viking Tribe, it turns me off from finding out more as Ive lost interest in HP as didnt keep up, I entered ballots but never won.
Why do they do lots of NAS? do their casks go faulty so need the contents saved. |

I would never say it is poor and I don't see a lot of people on here saying it has dropped in quality.
I liked Dragon Legend also, didn't hear it mentioned much on here though. |

| I'd buy the 12 before I would buy this one. |

| I will be up for trying the Viking Tribe at £43 for a bottle and being over £20 it will be free postage from Amazon so not at all a big ask. Without a doubt Highland Park is best when matured 18 plus years but you wont get that for £43 but hopefully they have put together something special and the bottling strength of 46% should in itself add to the pleasure of the whisky. |

Admittedly Harald and Dark Origins NAS whiskies were not great but I wouldn't call them poor.
I have tried a couple of times to get hold of the new Highland Park 18 46% travel exclusive bottling but it seems to sell out as soon as it hits the shelves at the airport shops so I have had no luck getting hold of a bottle. This new Viking Tribe will certainly be easier to get hold of and I don't get the negativity from a couple of posters above against a whisky which no one has even tasted yet |

There’s a pretty amazing cask Orkney 18 by a d Rattray bottled at 46% still hanging around at £60ish. |

Long gone are the days of finding a 21 for £75 and the 25 for £150, both are amazing whiskies. These new bottlings are *, sorry but they are. HP is marketing to death the ‘viking heritage’ like beating a dead horse. Some of their recent cask strength bottlings have been very good though. |
