Glen Moray Distillery has announced the launch of the Glen Moray Cider Cask Project, a small batch single malt whisky expression finished in whisky casks used to mature Thistly Cross Cider, one of Scotland’s most highly awarded cider brands. This is the first release from the new Glen Moray Elgin Curiosity Range.

It carries no age statement but I have been told it is a combination of of 2007 and 2008 Glen Moray which was matured in 1st Fill Bourbon barrels before being finished in ex Glen Moray casks which had been used by Thistly Cross Cider to mature their Whisky Cask Cider. Bottled at 46.3% ABV, non chill-filtered, a UK exclusive limited release of 2,000 bottles

The Glen Moray’s Cider Cask Project has a RRP of £54.99 and is exclusively available from https://www.thewhiskyexchange.com/p/46303/glen-moray-cider-cask-project until the end of this month.

I am partial to a drop of cider so this does appeal to me, pity they didn't choose to bottle it at cask strength.

I've tried it at The Whisky Show. It's nice, it's very, well, unsurprisingly, apple-y. I do prefer the Chardonnay cask, but if you're more into cider than wine, I think it's an easy win really.

Like someone else said, if this was a Mac or some posher brands it could easily be 150 quid and no one would complain.
