The recently launched new Highland Park travel retail collection is a collection of four new whiskies from the Orkney distillery, with age statements and bottling strengths which step up as you move through the range.

The four whiskies are:

The names they are coming up with are truly awful, what are they thinking of, HP bottle names are becoming a joke.

I think most people pay no attention to the names and look at the age, maturation details etc but the names don't bother me, as long as they are up front about whats in the bottles.

Not sure that is how the industry see it, they pay researches mega bucks to review buying trends and names definitely do matter to some people as they don`t care what is in the bottle as long as it looks the part.

Good to see the return to age statements, obviously the 18 year old will be the pick of the bunch, I am travelling later this month so I will keep a look out for them at the airport

God these are some cringe-worthy names. They have set a new standard.

A 1 litre bottle would have been even better, good to see it back at the airport and good to see some other age statements.

I don't see what the fuss is about regards the names it doesn't bother me, it is part of modern marketing, looking at the boxes they come in it is the age statement which will stand out for most people.

Having said that how hard is it to come up with a name related to the flavour profile of a whisky or why not name it for a location or island on Orkney, such as Hoy, Westray or Flotta

These are definitely of interest to me. I'm flying to Glasgow next weekend so I'm going to see if I can get a taste of these.

Names wise they fit into the current brand of Highland Park - the viking heritage that is from the local area, I don't have an issue with them, especially with the fact they are Age Statemented too.

Like it or not, this sort of modern marketing is here to stay, best get used to it.
