The Loch Lomond distillery have just joined the elite 50 years plus whisky club with the announcement that they are set to release their oldest and rarest expression to date, a limited edition Loch Lomond 50 Year Old.

The rare Loch Lomond 50 Year Old was distilled back in the early days of the distillery, 1967, which was only one year since production commenced at the distillery.

I do love the packaging on these super premium whiskies, I wonder what the rich people do with it once they drink the whisky.

A very good question actually, they're often works of art in themselves. I'm guessing many don't ever get drank at all.

This whisky is a savage indictment of the way the whisky world in general is going.

The Loch Lomond 50 Year Old has a RRP of £12,000 and will be available from December 2017 from specialist online whisky shops such as Master of Malt and The Whisky Exchange

If anyone thinks this is worth £12000 you need a full mental health examination.

Things like this really depress me, what a load of *.

I dread to think what a 50 year Brora in 2022 is going to cost?

Whisky is a business and there is clearly enough people willing and able to pay this price, unfortunately I am not one of them
