New Dalmore 40 Year Old

The Dalmore has unveiled a new Dalmore 40 Year Old expression, it spent most of its 40 years maturing in American white oak ex-bourbon casks, before being transferred into Gonzalez Byass Matsualem Oloroso sherry butts for seven years, which themselves had previously held 30 year old Oloroso sherry, it was finally finished in first fill bourbon barrels.

I really would love to try some of these older Dalmore's just to see the quality of them as you never read reviews on them, but they are priced way above of my whisky budget.

Sounds superb but you have to be seriously brewstered to pay over 6k for a bottle of scotch. On the plus side its free delivery though...

Dalmore has a reputation for greatness that is based more on swankery than the actual quality of the product.
The older Dalmore that I have had have all been a disappointment but why should that come as a shock because the core range is rubbish.

Difficult to disagree, I have always been a bit underwhelmed by Dalmore , for great sherry bombs Glenfarclas and several other are better drinking and better value

The swankiness comment seems to sum them up quite well, frankly.
