Just picked up from Facebook that this will be released on Arran's website at 9.30am tomorrow (30th July) at £77. Must have if you have 1st and 2nd editions. I'm just repeating info I've seen but thought might be of interest!

| Sold out on the Arran website in 1 hr apparently but should be in the specialist whisky shops soon. |

It always surprised me how well this sold after Jim Murrays review of the Devils Punch Bowl chapter 1 which he rated at 72/100 due to being sulphur tainted, although it doesnt follow on that chapter 2 and 3 would be the same but it does demonstrate the power of marketing and packaging of a whisky when it can get such a poor review and still fly off the shelves.
As i am not collecting these i would have to hear it is very good before putting out £77 to taste it myself. |

Brummie the problem with Jim Murrays reviews in his bible is by the time it is published the whisky has sold out, that is where online reviews are good but i do think many of these reviews are worthless. Most online whisky bloggers simply rewrite the distilleries tasting notes, they rarely rate the whisky and i have seen some that have copied some of there reviews from other sites including copying from this site. Many take part in these tweet tastings and i think that they wouldnt give a poor review as they would not be invited back to take part in future tastings and they would loose their free supply of whisky. |

Just had a look at what price the first release bottle was going for on a whisky auction today and Arran punch bowl, is going for the same price as Bowmore Devils cask. A bit shocked, as I would suspect Bowmore release is a better dram than Arran ?.
Some of Arran limited edition's are becoming very collectable, for such a young distillery ?. |

| I think some of the arran releases have caught the interest of collectors and taste has come 2nd. Having said that some arran special releases have been superb, hopefully this devils punch bowl iii is a cracker |

Most of these blog reviews are a joke, and i cringe when i read the tweet tasting guys childish comments such as "dramspankery", i would guess he isnt very old and i certainly wouldnt buy any whisky on his recommendation or any of these bloggers which have appeared and do his tweet tastings. |

I tired this at the Edinburgh Whisky Fringe on Saturday, it was ok, I had better drams on the day.
But I managed to blag a taste of an Arran quarter cask which was far better, but it is Distillery exclusive.

My best dram was the Glendronach 1993- 21 years, I also liked a Clan Denny 26years and a Glen Moray 25 years.
I was disappointed with the Highland Park Origins.
