Kilchoman have launched the 4th limited edition of its popular lighter peated 100% Islay malt. For this 4th edition the folks at Kilchoman have selected 40 first fill bourbon barrels, 32 five year old and 8 four year old barrels.
I tasted it on Saturday at the Glasgow Whisky Festival and was drinking it again last night, it really is an outstanding quality young (4/5 year old) peaty Islay dram that shows maturity beyond its years and proof that whisky should be bottled at around 50%. A bit lighter on the peat than the other Kilchoman expressions but still plenty of peat in there to put a smile on your face if you have a taste for peat.
I added my review of the new whisky here:

| I think i will have a bottle of this when it hits the shops as i have developed quite a liking for Kilchoman. I had the last couple of editions of this and i love the Machir Bay. I did expect the age to have risen a little i am sure last years release was 4/5 years old. Perhaps they are reserving stocks for a future age statement Kilchoman release. |
