Old Pulteney WK209 Good Hope single malt Scotch whisky will be launched in UK travel retail as World of Whiskies "Malt of the Month' for sale from today 8th March 2011 at £34.99 per bottle. Bottled in 100cl at 46% ABV, it will be launched and sold exclusively in selected European travel retail outlets.

The WK209 succeeds the popular Old Pulteney WK499 Isabella Fortuna travel retail exclusive launched early last year which was very good indeed. The WK499 was bottled at cask strength 52% ABV so in will be interesting to see how the new WK209 compares.

I have had a couple of bottles of the Old Pulteney WK499 which was excellent, i hope the WK209 is not a water down to 46% version of the 52% WK499

The tasting notes for each are describing 2 different whiskies so i would think they will be different. It is a pity they only put these bottles in travel retail outlets, they could scatter a few around the whisky specialist shops also for those who dont pass through an airport very often.

They may still have some of the WK499 left at World of Whiskies, well at least at Glasgow airport. I saw some last month when i passed through the airport. I had a bottle last year and it was a decent whisky for the money. If anyone trys the new WK209 i wouldnt mind hearing what you think of it.
