As The Famous Grouse announce the release of 2 new TV ads to grace our screens this Christmas we take a look through the Famous Grouse TV ads past & present.

For over 20 years now in Scotland we have always known when Christmas is on the way when we see Scotland's most famous bird appearing on our TV screens, no I don't mean TV presenter Jackie Bird although no doubt we will see her on our screens on hogmanay helping Scotland usher in another new year, I mean The Famous Grouse, the iconic bird which adorns every bottle of Scotland's favourite blended whisky, The Famous Grouse.

This year is no different, the iconic Famous Grouse bird, Gilbert, will once again grace our TV screens heralding the start of the festive season, and this year sees the brand’s icon return in his natural habitat, in the Highlands of Scotland, whilst, I am pleased to say, retaining his playful sense of humour.

The good folks at The Famous Grouse which is the UK’s No.1 selling whisky has created two new TV adverts communicating ‘Perfectly Balanced’ and ‘Smooth’ – two key characteristics of The Famous Grouse – underpinning the quality of the nation’s favourite whisky.

The ‘Perfectly Balanced’ advert will air for the first time today, 17th October, on various TV channels and Video on Demand with the second  ‘Smooth’ advert set to air in November.

Gilbert the Grouse is now pretty famous himself these days after gracing the Famous Grouse TV ads for over 20 years now, so for those of you feeling a little nostalgic, which tends to happen as we approach the festive season, I have edited together all the Famous Grouse TV adverts from over the years that I could get my hands on.

Over the years Gilbert has had everything thrown at him, from female admirers, Scotland's temperamental quick changing weather, he has even had the red carpet treatment yet his feathers have remained completely unruffled. The music accompanying the Famous Grouse TV ads has become equally iconic and memorable with each note of the Famous Grouse theme tune playing like a drop of whisky splashing on a xylophone, it even sounds refreshing and relaxing. There are a couple of ads from Christmas 2014 in which Gilbert didn't feature but I am pleased to say he will be the star of the two new ads this coming Christmas 2016, so sit back pour yourself a dram of your favourite Famous Grouse and enjoy the trip through The Famous Grouse TV advert archives.
