announce the launch of The Epicurean
Peated Edition.
 Douglas Laing & Co. has unveiled The
Epicurean Peated Edition, marking a
limited and notable first for its
Remarkable Lowland Malt range. This
Small Batch Scotch blended malt whisky
expression introduces a delicate layer
of peat to the brand's signature fresh
and lively Lowland profile, adding depth
while staying true to its reputation as
the Master of Versatility.
Rather than dominating the spirit, they
tell me that the restrained peat
presence enhances it—bringing a gentle
earthiness, added structure, and refined
complexity. Bottled at a natural cask
strength of 50.5% ABV and presented
without colouring or chill-filtration,
this release is limited to just 1,800
bottles worldwide.
On the nose, they say that it offers
soft earthy peat smoke intertwined with
thyme, green apple, and toasted barley.
The palate reveals honeyed cereal and
malt notes, evolving into smoky embers,
a warming peppery spice, and subtle oak.
The finish carries drying peat smoke
with a light ashy nuance, lifted by
hints of lemon peel and a touch of
vanilla.
This expression is said to bring together the
bright, fresh character of Lowland
whisky with a measured peat
richness—elegant, balanced, and quietly
complex.
The Epicurean Peated Edition is released
as a bottle-only offering, underscoring
its understated sophistication. Its
natural integrity is preserved through
the absence of added colouring and
chill-filtration, allowing the whisky’s
true character to come forward.
With this launch, The Epicurean further
cements its standing, marrying Lowland
brightness with subtle smoke and spice.
The result Douglas Laing says is a
whisky that expands the brand's flavour
profile while remaining unmistakably
true to its identity.
