Family-owned
Scotch Whisky Distillers, Blenders and
Bottlers Douglas Laing are celebrating
75 years in the whisky
business and they are marking the
milestone with the release of Six XOP
Single Cask Diamond Anniversary Sets.
Douglas Laing & Co. has delved deep into
its treasured Scotch Whisky reserves to
handpick and unveil a collection of six
of their most esteemed Single Casks in
honour of their 75th Anniversary.
Founded in 1948 by the Whisky enthusiast
Fred Douglas Laing, this family-owned
enterprise proudly stands as independent
Scotch Whisky Distillers, Blenders, and
Bottlers, now spanning three
generations. With over 75 years of
legacy, enriched history, and honed
expertise, they have perfected their
craft, consistently delivering quality
whiskies for us to enjoy.
The essence of these opulent sets
revolves around the theme of "The
Diamond Year," showcasing exceptionally
rare spirits that Douglas Laing regards
as their prized gemstones, all elegantly
presented in bespoke packaging.
At the heart of their tradition lies the
art of crafting hand-bottled and
hand-labelled Single Cask editions.
Dedication is poured into nurturing and
refining the finest Single Casks sourced
from Scotland's most renowned
distilleries. This remarkable collection
comprises a Speyside's Finest 55 year
old, Port Dundas 45 year old, Macallan
35 year old, Blair Athol 30 year old,
Cameronbridge 45 year old, and a elusive
Port Ellen 40 year old, all standing as
testaments to their commitment to
excellence.
These exceptional bottling's have been
sampled by renowned Whisky author,
Charles MacLean. Giving them his stamp
of approval, he commented: "This is an
exceptional set of six rare old Malt and
Grain Scotch Whiskies - all Single Casks
so extremely rare - selected by Fred
Laing and his daughter, Cara, to mark
the 75th Anniversary of their family
business, Douglas Laing & Co., which was
founded in Glasgow by Fred’s father in
1948. I was delighted to have been
invited to assess and profile the
whiskies, with Fred and Cara, in their
new tasting room, and can happily report
their excellence!"
Douglas Laing's unwavering pursuit of
perfection is mirrored in their
collaboration with British Designer
Richard Brendon, whose exquisite
crystalware graces these exclusive sets.
This union exemplifies the seamless
fusion of artistry and design, with each
piece being meticulously mouth-blown,
hand-cut, and adorned with intricate
details, all while maintaining a
timeless aesthetic. The result is an
infusion of exceptional craftsmanship
into every moment.
With a shared commitment to excellence
and quality, this partnership emerges as
a true embodiment of luxury and
refinement.
Cara Laing, Director of Whisky, and
third generation in the family business
comments: "Our 75th Anniversary is a
landmark and momentous occasion for us
and one we continue to enjoy celebrating
throughout the year. We are delighted to
be launching our Xtra Old Particular
75th Anniversary Editions – Single Cask
Whiskies selected from deep within the
Douglas Laing family vaults. These
latest editions reflect very much our
focus and philosophy to release
excellent Scotch Whisky at the peak of
perfection, truly honouring this
significant milestone in our family
history in more ways than my grandfather
could ever have imagined. Here’s to the
next 75 years of Whisky adventures!"
