Douglas Laing
launch Provenance Coastal Collection
single cask series with a Bunnahabhain
10 Year Old Single Cask bottling.
 Independent
whisky bottler Douglas Laing has just
unveiled a new limited edition single
cask series of four single malt whiskies
which will be bottled under the
company's Provenance label. Douglas
Laing tell me that the new series aims
to honour Scotland’s Whisky islands and
the seas that surround them.
Douglas Laing's Provenance Coastal
Collection Single Cask Series launches today with a
Bunnahabhain 10 Year Old Single Cask
bottling which has been matured in a
refill hogshead which has produced 383
bottles. As we have come to expect from
Douglas Laing the new series has been
bottled without colouring or
chill-filtration and at a very
flavourful strength 48% ABV. The intricate label
design features a rock oyster
intertwined with maritime rope bringing
to life the nautical theme.
Cara Laing, Director of Whisky at
Douglas Laing & Co, commented on the new
single cask series saying: "We’re
thrilled to bring to market the
Provenance Coastal Collection, which
will highlight some of the most maritime
Malts from our stocks in this special
edition series. The first release,
distilled at Islay’s Bunnahabhain
Distillery, displays a salty, smoky and
spicy character – the epitome of what we
believe a Maritime Malt should be!"
Joining the Provenance Coastal
Collection in Douglas Laing's latest
outturn is a raft of other Provenance
Single Casks bottlings including from
the Highland Region, a Glengoyne 10 Year
Old which they say is "packed with
Springtime charm", with tasting notes
including sweet brioche, lemon meringue
pie and buttered toast. From Islay, a
Caol Ila Single Cask aged 6 Year Old,
proclaims "seaweed, peaches, peppery
spice and crisp peat". From Speyside, a
Balmenach 10 Year Old which they
describe as "wonderfully mocha in
style", with ginger, nutmeg and vanilla.
