The Dalmore
unveils the third instalment in their
Vintage Collection, The Dalmore 18 Year
Old Vintage 2005 and The Dalmore 15 Year
Old 2008, each is non chill filtered,
naturally coloured and bottled at what
should be a flavoursome strength.
The latest unveiling from The Dalmore
Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky
introduces two new Limited-Editions,
namely The Dalmore Vintage 2005 and The
Dalmore Vintage 2008.
These editions
mark the third release from their Vintage Collection curated by Master
Whisky Maker Gregg Glass and Master
Distiller Richard Paterson OBE. The
Vintage Collection holds whiskies
renowned for their exceptional and
distinguished character. The selection
process for this collection relies on
the unique qualities displayed by the
casks during the annual cask inspection
week, a tradition spanning over half a
century.
In November, The Dalmore's whisky makers
dedicate extensive hours in their
historic warehouses situated along the
Cromarty Firth, engaging in the
meticulous evaluation of their rare
casks that have been patiently maturing
over time. The month of November is said
to offer the ideal
conditions for this evaluation, as the
cooler temperatures following the warm
summer months allow the flavours of the
whiskies to come alive authentically.
Only the most exceptional casks
exhibiting the finest attributes of The
Dalmore and its signature style during
this crucial assessment period are
hand-picked to join the exclusive
'Vintage' ranks. The 2023 Vintage
Collection prominently features The
Dalmore's distinct chocolate and orange
profile. The Dalmore 15 Year Old, Vintage 2008
edition is said to highlight notes of milk
chocolate and mandarin, while the
Dalmore 18
Year Old, Vintage 2005 edition is said
to present flavours of dark chocolate and Seville
orange.
The Dalmore Vintage 2008 is said to entice with
aromas of milk chocolate, caramel,
mandarin, and cracked black pepper. On
the palate, it delivers a blend of manuka honey, sweet cacao, poached
apples, and golden sultanas. The finish
promises notes of vanilla cream,
chocolate brioche, Navelina orange, and
a subtle warmth of cinnamon. This
expression has matured in American white
oak ex-Bourbon casks, augmented by
hand-selected Matusalem Sherry and Pedro
Ximénez Sherry casks, boasting an ABV of
45.8%, natural colour, and being
non-chill filtered.
The Dalmore Vintage 2005 is said to exude aromas
of dark chocolate, salted caramel,
antique leather, and rich orange citrus.
Its taste profile includes rich cacao,
blood orange, dark fruits, marzipan, and
moist ginger cake. The finish brings
forth notes of Madagascan vanilla with
Seville orange, a rich nuttiness, and
enduring, dry chocolate complexities.
This expression has been matured in
American white oak ex-Bourbon casks and
elevated by hand-selected Matusalem
Sherry and Vintage 2005 Sherry casks,
boasting an ABV of 49.3%, natural colour,
and being non-chill filtered.
Master Whisky Maker Gregg Glass
commented on the two new limited edition
Vintage drams, saying: "The annual cask
inspection which ultimately leads to the
creation of each years Vintage
Collection is a true highlight of
working on The Dalmore. We can never
know what time and nature has given to
these whiskies, until we take stock each
November and see what magic has unfolded
in the year. Richard and I select casks
which we feel contain whiskies that
exemplify The Dalmore’s quality and
style, with the best of the best,
becoming our Limited-Edition Vintages.
"For 2023, we are pleased to present two
whiskies which, at different ages,
showcase nuances of The Dalmore’s
signature notes – chocolate, orange, and
subtle spice. Vintage 2008 reveals
naturally balanced shades and interplays
of sweet cacao, fresh citrus and soft
spices, and is a beautiful example of
refined elegance from The Dalmore,
captured at a moment in time. Vintage
2005 has quintessential dark chocolate
notes which intertwine with rich citrus
offering a flavour experience to be
remembered and savoured."
The Dalmore 2008 Vintage has a RRP of
$225 and The Dalmore 2005 Vintage $490,
they will both be available from
November from specialist online whisky
shops such as
The Whisky Exchange
and
