Cotswolds
single malt whisky now available at more
than 700 Greene King pubs in the UK.
 If
you haven't yet tried Cotswolds single
malt whisky then I suggest you pay a
visit to a Greene King pub as The
Cotswolds Distillery has announced that
it has secured its first major pub
distribution for its Single Malt Whisky
through Greene King in more than 700 of
their UK pubs.
The move is
certainly testament to the growing
consumer interest in the growing English
single malt whisky category and is also
an indication of the quality of spirit
they are producing at the Cotswolds
distillery.

Category Manager at Greene King, said:
"We are really excited to be offering
this English whisky in our pubs. English
whisky is a new trend that companies are
experimenting with and the Cotswolds
Distillery has proven itself as a
quality brand with excellent products -
we’re sure guests who visit our pubs
will love it."
The Cotswolds
Distillery Single Malt is the first ever
whisky to be created in the Cotswolds
‘Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty’ and
is created using only Cotswolds-grown
barley. The inaugural whisky is rich and
fruity in style; it is matured in a
combination of first-fill, ex-Bourbon
barrels and specially shaved, toasted
and re-charred red wine casks.

Morrison's Tasting Notes:
Nose:
Some toasty oak, creamy sweet vanilla
toffee and a
lovely touch of rich fruit, peaches and
cooked apples. A slight feintiness.
Taste:
Deliciously malty, a barley sugar
sweetness, some dark treacle toffee with
a gentle rich orange citrusy edge, a
lovely light touch of oak spice hanging
around the background.
Finish:
Medium to long, vanilla with a citrusy edge,
becomes spicier, a little drying as it
fades.
Comment:
It is hard to believe that this is only
3 years old, if tasted blind I would
doubt anyone would guess its correct
age. An outstanding young whisky with a
lovely first fill bourbon influence
combining well with some delicious fruit
from the ex-red wine cask. Of course
there is still a sign of youth, just the
slightest feintiness with the first
couple of mouthfuls which quickly fades
and lets the quality and character of
the young whisky and the casks it
matured in shine.
Time will tell just
how good the Cotswolds whisky will get
but at 3 years old things are looking
very promising for this new English
single malt whisky. Meanwhile grab
yourself a bottle of this new and most
importantly enjoyable English whisky.
