Compass Box say that Enlightenment has been inspired by the writers, philosophers and scientists of the Age of Enlightenment, this Limited Edition release is their way of highlighting the issues of a regulatory system that currently prevents Scotch producers from sharing information about the age of every component whisky used in their blends.

Compass Box's believe that the more information they can share with their customers about the Scotch whisky they produce, the better. Inspired by the writers, philosophers and scientists of the Age of Enlightenment, they say this blend of fruity fragrant Highland Single Malt Scotch Whiskies is bursting with aromas of fresh orchard fruit, vanilla, soft spice and pear.

Compass Box Enlightenment contains four single malts from:

• Clynelish
  Total liquid volume: 48.2%
  Cask Type: First Fill American Standard Barrel
  Flavour Contribution: Bright apple, waxiness
   
• Glentauchers
  Total liquid volume: 36.7%
  Cask Type: First Fill American Standard Barrel
  Flavour Contribution: Fruity, herbal
   
• Balblair
  Total liquid volume: 10.8%
  Cask Type: First Fill American Standard Barrel
  Flavour Contribution: Perfumed, bright
   
• Mortlach
  Total liquid volume: 4.3%
  Cask Type: Rejuvenated American Standard Barrel
  Flavour Contribution: Muscular, weighty.

Unfortunately, as much as they would like to, Compass Box is unable to reveal the age of the four single malt components of Enlightenment as that would fall foul of current EU and UK regulations.

Bottled at 46% ABV, non chill-filtered and natural colour as we have come to expect from Compass Box. Enlightenment is a Limited Edition release of 5,922 bottles worldwide, priced around £60 it is currently available from specialist Whisky retailers such as The Whisky Exchange
