Review of
Compass Box Hedonism blended grain
whisky.
 Compass
Box Hedonism isn't a new whisky but it
is the first blended grain whisky to
come to the market a few years back now.
It doesn't carry an age statement or
state the contributing grain
distilleries.
Compass Box's inspiration behind
Hedonism is was simply pleasure,
enjoyment, a celebration of that ideal
marriage between distilled spirit and
high quality oak maturation.
Hedonism has always been a deliciously
lush, soft and creamy blended grain
whisky, it is produced in batches each
year using different whiskies, in
different combinations, so by its very
nature it can vary slightly each year
but in my experience Compass Box has
been very consistent with quality and
style and they consistently turn out a
quality dram.
Compass Box Hedonism is non
chill-filtered and naturally coloured
and is bottled at 43% ABV.

Morrison's Tasting Notes:
Nose:
Vanilla, coconut, some gentle spice and
a little honey sweetness.
Taste:
A delicious delivery brings sweet
coconut and vanilla between layers of
lovely mild fizzy oak spices. A wee
touch of honey and orange citrus lurks
in the background.
Finish:
Long, the creamy vanilla, sweet coconut
slowly fade leaving some lingering
slightly drying sweet spice.
Comment:
As always, a deliciously balanced
blended grain, it has no age statement
but I suspect the component whiskies are
quite mature, vanilla, coconut and spice
run the show from nose to finish, ultra
smooth and very easy to drink whisky
full of the subtle grain whisky
character you would expect.
