Douglas Laing
has released a special rum finished
expression of their Big Peat Islay
blended malt whisky to mark the Fèis Ìle
2024 and the whisky will be available
globally.
 Douglas Laing's has unveiled
a special
bottling of their Islay Blended Malt
Scotch Whisky, Big Peat, for the Fèis
Ìle 2024 and this years bottling looks
like a big mouthful not only in peaty
rum infused flavour but also to say, it
is the Big Peat The Thropaigeach
Edition. This Global Limited Edition,
with an alcohol strength of 48% ABV, has
been finished in specially selected
ex-Rum casks, creating a powerful
tropical-themed release of their classic
Big Peat.
Douglas Laing tells me that fans can
expect a distinctive profile starting
with peated malt on the nose, followed
by warming spice and a viscous palate
featuring flambéed banana and barbecued
meats, culminating in a charred
pineapple finish. This unique cask
finish celebrates the iconic Whisky
Island of Islay.
The Limited Edition bottle showcases a
unique, screen-printed design with Big
Peat in pirate form, highlighting the
Caribbean Rum cask theme. The tropical
design includes palm trees, parrots, and
swords, with a bright yellow capsule and
design elements throughout.
In support of the launch, the team
behind the iconic Islay Malt has
partnered with the artisan pizza
restaurant ‘Peatzeria’ in Bowmore,
Islay. Big Peat will headline five
tasting sessions during Fèis Ìle, held
on Friday 24th, Saturday 25th, and
Sunday 26th May. Ticket holders can
taste the new festival release, various
Big Peat expressions, and unique Single
Casks paired with fresh local
delicacies.

rare opportunity to try exclusive
editions of Bowmore, Caol Ila, and the
legendary Port Ellen.
Big Peat will also join the Islay Gaelic
Centre for a Big Peat Caribbean BBQ and
Ceilidh on Sunday 26th May and a Quiz
Night on Wednesday 29th, with proceeds
benefiting the centre.
Additionally, Big Peat and the Douglas
Laing & Co team will participate in the
Independent Bottler Festival on Tuesday
28th May, providing numerous
opportunities to discuss all things
Islay and Big Peat with the team.
