Douglas Laing
marks the 15th Anniversary of its Big
Peat Islay blended malt whisky with the
release of a limited edition expression
which has been predominately finished in
red wine casks.
 Douglas Laing is marking the 15th
anniversary of its Big Peat Islay
blended malt whisky with the release of
a limited edition expression. Unlike the
10th Anniversary when they marked the
event with the release of a 10 year old
expression, for the Big Peat 15th
Anniversary bottling they have released
a no age statement expression which has
been predominately finished in Red Wine
Casks, which will no doubt add some
fruitiness to the the big Islay
peatiness you find in the Big Peat
releases.
The Big Peat 15th Anniversary release is
present at 50% ABV, non-chill filtered,
and naturally coloured as you would
expect and the creative folks at Douglas
Laing have come up with some special
packaging to mark the occasion.
This special edition of Big Peat comes
in a custom-designed, gift-ready package
featuring 15 unique elements
highlighting Big Peat, the Isle of
Islay, and the distinctive whisky
itself. It also includes a QR code that
allows consumers to join Big Peat’s
Club, with further updates coming in
2025.
Thanks to its maturation process,
Douglas Laing tells me that fans can
look forward to a warm, earthy,
smoke-forward aroma, enhanced by notes
of black forest fruits and vanilla. On
the palate, expect flavours of toffee,
dark chocolate, and a hint of nuttiness,
leading to a long, lingering finish of
dry peat smoke and home-baked spice—a
truly distinctive expression of Big Peat
for this special release.
Marking 15 years of Big Peat is a
significant milestone for everyone at
